Eggplant in Ameliorating the Risk and Treatment of Lung Cancer

Eggplant may have a potential and substantial effect in reduced risk and treatment of lung cancer, some scientists suggested.

Eggplant is a species of S. melongena with deep purple color, belongings to the family Solanaceae and native to India, cultivated in southern and eastern Asia since prehistory.

Lung cancer is a medical condition characterized by irregular cell growth in the tissues of lung At the later stage, the cancerous cell may invade other healthy tissues and organs a distance away from the original site.

According to statistics, approximately 28,600 Canadians will be diagnosed with lung cancer represented 14% of all new cancer cases in 2017.

In the investigation of the eggplant bioactive phytochemical glycoalkaloids activity and risk of various types of malignant tumors, Dr. Friedman M found that derivatives of glycoalkaloids, α-solamargine, and α-solasonine demonstrated a strong inhibited effect in the growth of the lung and other cancer cells in culture (in vitro) as well as tumor growth in vivo, involved some unknown signaling pathways.

More specifically, the investigation of solasodine, a naturally occurring aglycone of glycoalkaloid in eggplant (Solanum melongena) in human lung cancer cell line A549 showed that solasodine displays a significant effect in ameliorated cancer cell viability and initiated cell apoptosis through attenuating expression of mRNA level of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2), MMP-9 which were found to be elevated in patients with lung cancer in compared to healthy subjects and extracellular inducer of matrix metalloproteinase (EMMPRIN), a cell surface glycoprotein which plays an important role in stimulated the production of several matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs).

Further differentiation, also indicated that the inhibitory property of solasodine by increased the expression of a reversion-inducing cysteine-rich protein with kazal motifs (RECK) not only reduces the risk of RECK accelerated cancer cell proliferation but also exhibits initiation of irreversible growth cycle arrest through short hairpin of mRNA in the suppression of the RECK gene.

Additionally, injection of solasodine promoted cancer cells death was also associated to the overexpression of tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1), a glycoprotein found in several tissues of organisms with function in involved in the degradation of the extracellular matrix as mention above and TIMP-2, a member of the TIMP gene family with function as a metastasis suppressor.

According to the immunoblotting assays, the administration of solasodine is very effective in suppressing PI3K /Akt phosphorylation of lung cancer cells in the induction of cell proliferation.

PI3K /Akt phosphorylation plays critical roles in the regulation of many cellular processes including cell cycle, growth, apoptosis, and signal transduction pathways.

Alterations in phosphorylation pathways result in serious outcomes in the form of diseases, especially cancer.

Finally, solasodine decreased expression of microRNA-21 which has been found to be higher in more advanced malignancies, in initiated early entry phase of cancer developing by stimulated production of RECK in accelerated cancer cell proliferation, thus decreasing the risk of cell invasion.

After taking into account all confounders, Dr. Shen KH, the lead author said, "the findings demonstrate an attractive therapeutic potential for solasodine in lung cancer anti-metastatic therapy".

Taken together, eggplant with abundant phytochemicals may be considered as a functional food for attenuated risk and used combination with standard medicine for the treatment of lung cancer.

Whole Food Onion Protects the Endometrial Cells Integrity Against the Risk of Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a medical condition characterized by the growth of endometrial cells somewhere else in the body instead of the inside of the uterus.

More precisely, during the maturation, the layer of endometriosis lining on the inside of the uterus is normally expelled, some of the endometriosis tissues grow somewhere else in the body.

Most common endometriosis tissues are diagnosed within the pelvic region, on the lining of peritoneum, in the ovaries, and on the surface of the uterus's an outside wall. However, endometriosis has also been found in the fallopian tubes, the cervix, the vagina, and even the vulva.

According to the statistics, 20% of reproductive-age women with endometriosis present without symptoms, 55% of women who have developed the new onset of severe menstrual cramps.

Additionally, endometriosis also induce sub-fertility (less fertile than a normal couple) in 25% of women.

Conventionally, endometriosis is treated either by medications or surgery, including
* Medication for pain with an aim to ease painful menstrual cramps.

* Hormone therapy may be accompanied by the pain medication also with an aim to reduce menstrual pain such as hormonal contraceptives. Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (Gn-RH) agonists and antagonists, Progestin therapy. and aromatase inhibitors.

In surgery perspective,
* In women who want to get pregnant, surgery removes the endometriosis implants while preserving the uterus and ovaries.

* Hysterectomy with removal of the ovaries may be performed if pregnancy is not a concern.

The onion is a plant in the genus Allium, belonging to the family Alliaceae, a close relation of garlic. It is often called the "king of vegetables" because of its pungent taste and found in a large number of recipes and preparations spanning almost the totality of the world's cultures.

Depending on the variety, an onion can be sharp, spicy, tangy, pungent, mild or sweet.

On finding a potential compound for the treatment of endometriosis, researchers examined the effects of quercetin (3,3',4',5,7-pentahydroxyflavone), a major dietary flavonol found in the onion on the risk of endometriosis.

In human endometriosis cell lines (VK2/E6E7 and End1/E6E7 cells),
* Quercetin inhibited the proliferation and induced the cell cycle arrest.

* Administration of quercetin not only induced cell apoptosis with DNA fragmentation, loss of mitochondrial membrane potential but also exhibited cytotoxicity of reactive oxygen species production in the tested cell lines.

* Quercetin also suppressed the expression of signaling pathways associated with endometrial cells survival and growth.

On endometriosis auto-implanted mouse models,

* Administration of quercetin also promoted the antiproliferative and anti-inflammatory effects.

* Quercetin injection also attenuated the proliferation with sub-G0/G1 cell cycle arrest and increased the apoptosis of VK2/E6E7 and End1/E6E7 cells by inhibiting the gene associated with the onset and progression of endometriosis.

In other words, quercetin inhibited the risk and onset of endometriosis by the increased expression and decrease expression of Micro RNA (miRNA) involved in the initiation and progression of endometriosis in vitro and vivo.

Dr. Park S, the lead scientist said, "Hence, quercetin may potentially act as a natural therapy to reduce and treat human endometriosis".

Taken altogether, onion processed an abundantly high amount of quercetin may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of liver alcoholic cytotoxicity pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Ginger, the Best Anti Lung Cancer Remedy

Scientists may have found a pungent spice which processes a potential to treat lung cancer, according to studies.

Lung cancer is a medical condition characterized by irregular cell growth in the lung tissue.

In Canada, according to the statistics, lung cancer is the leading cause of death in both men and women. Lung cancer accounts for 26.7% of all deaths from cancer and 6.5% of all mortality.

The 5-year survival rate for people with stage IB NSCLC is about 68%.

At the advanced stage, the lung cancer cell may suppress the nearby blood vessels and nerves leading to vomiting blood and localized severe pain accompanied by other general symptoms of cancer such as weight loss, reduce appetite.

In this stage, lung cancer also can travel a distance away to infect other healthy cells of tissue and organs, leading to secondary metastasis.

Most common glands and organs of lung cancer metastases are adrenal gland, bones, brain, and liver.

Although there are many factors associated with the onset of lung cancer, some researchers suggested that current and past smoking accounts for most of the cases. The risk of developing lung cancer is about 23 times higher in male smokers compared to non-smokers, epidemiologically.

Dr. Ozlü T, the lead scientist in examing the risk of lung cancer in smoking, wrote, "The association between cigarettes and lung cancer has been proven by large cohort studies. Tobacco use has been reported to be the main cause of 90% of male and 79% of female lung cancers. 90% of deaths from lung cancer are estimated to be due to smoking".

And, "DNA adducts, the metabolites of smoke carcinogens bound covalently with DNA, are regarded as an indicator of cancer risk in smokers. In recent decades, there has been a shift from squamous and small cell lung cancer types to adenocarcinoma, due to increasing rates of smoking among female population and rising light cigarette usage".

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) or ginger root, the second superfood used for thousands of years by mankind, is the genus Zingiber, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, native to Tamil.

The root has been used in traditional and Chinese medicine for the treatment of dyspepsia, gastroparesis, constipation, edema, difficult urination, colic, etc.

Researchers on finding a natural compound for the treatment of lung cancer with no side effects compared to chemo medication examined the anti-lung cancer of bioactive compounds isolated from the ginger.

[6]-shogaol, [6]-paradol and [6]-gingerol, potentiate the anti-NSCLC activity, however, [6]-shogaol showed the greatest inhibitory effects on the NSCLC cell proliferation and anchorage-independent growth.

[6]-Shogaol also induced cell cycle arrest (G1 or G2/M) and apoptosis as well as the cascades associated with the programming cell deaths.

Furthermore, [6]-shogaol inhibited protein (Akt kinase activity), associated with cancer proliferation and survival In NCI-H1650 lung cancer cells by inhibiting the regulator involved cell cycle progression.

Dr. Myoung Ok Kim and colleagues in the final report said, "The current study clearly indicates that [6]-shogaol can be exploited for the prevention and/or treatment of NSCLC".

In order to reveal more information about the ginger anti-lung cancer activity, researchers examined the [6]-gingerol and [6]-shogaol and a ginger extract with a high level of shogaols (GEHS) against lung cancer cells.

[6]- shogaol has greater growth inhibitory activity (about 10 fold) on lung and colon cancer cell lines than [6]- gingerol.

Shogaols of ginger preparations and GEHS has stronger cancer preventive effect, compared to other ginger extracts.

The inhibitory activities of GEHS and extract from fresh ginger, as well as [6]-shogaol and [6]-gingerol inhibited an NNK-induced lung carcinogenesis model in A/J mice.

These results provide the basic information on key active cancer preventive constituents in ginger extracts. The development of a standardized and more active ginger extract preparation will facilitate future pre-clinical and clinical studies on the health benefit of ginger extracts, according to the author.

Take all together, ginger processed a high amount of bioactive compounds may be considered a function alternative for prevention and combined primary therapy for the treatment of lung cancer, pending to the confirmation of large sample size and multicenter human study.

Cucumber's Cucurbitacin B (CuB) Might Process Anti Diabetes Potency

Diabetes is a medical condition caused by not insufficient insulin entering the bloodstream.

In other words, diabetes is a condition associated with the inability of the body to use insulin properly.

Most cases of insulin insufficiency in the bloodstream in diabetes are either caused by the gradual died-off of the pancreas beta cells or insulin receptors clogged-up by fat and cholesterol.

Hallmarks of diabetes are hyperglycemia and insulin resistance.

According to the statistics, in 2017, 7.3% of Canadians aged 12 and older (roughly 2.3 million people) reported being diagnosed with diabetes

Most common causes of diabetes are
* Metabolic syndrome
Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions including high blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose
associated with an increased risk of diabetes.

* Gestational diabetes
High blood glucose of pregnant women has been found to increase the risk of diabetes in later life.

* Prediabetes
Most cases of prediabetes are caused by unhealthy diets with high saturated fat, smoking, and excessive alcohol drinking. Prediabetes is a high-risk state for diabetes, especially in patients who remain with prediabetes despite intensive lifestyle intervention.

* Damage to the Pancreas causes the gradual and irreversible loss of beta cells that reduce the production of insulin

* Influenza a viruses
Influenza A virus is a common cause of pancreatitis in naturally and experimentally infected animals.
However, recently, researchers found that influenza virus infection may play a role as a causative agent of pancreatitis and diabetes in humans.

* * Head trauma
Head trauma is considered a possible cause of central diabetes insipidus with symptoms of failure to concentrate urine, an increase in urine specific gravity.

The cucumber plant is a species of Cucumis Sativus, belongings to the family Cucurbitaceae and native to Western Asia. It is a creeping vine with roots in the ground and grows up with the support of frames.

With an aim to find a natural compound which processes anti-diabetes property, researchers investigated the effect of different fractions of Cucumis prophetarum on antidiabetic and antioxidant activity.

The study was carried out to examine the anti-diabetes and antioxidants of the different doses of aqueous crude extract (CE) of C. prophetarum fruits fractionated into water-soluble fraction 1 (F1), chloroform fraction 2 (F2), basic fraction 3 (F3), and neutral fraction 4 (F4) by acid-base extraction,

Based on the chemical analysis,
* F1 exhibited effective antidiabetic activity with an IC50 value of 20.6 and 59.9 µg/mL.

* According to α-amylase assay, the anti-diabetes activity was found in the decreasing order of CE > F4 > F3 > F2.

* According to the DPPH assay, F1 (IC50 = 73 µg/mL) showed better reducing ability than CE >F4 >F2 > F3 (IC50 = 78-272 µg/mL

* Furthermore, according to the SO and metal chelation assays, F1 showed the highest activity anti-diabetes at the IC50 = 101 and 147 µg/mL.
These results strongly suggested that F1 possesses a potent antidiabetic compared to other fractions, in vitro.

In other words, all ingredients in cucumbers work synergistically to exhibit the anti-diabetes activity compared to a single compound.

Taken altogether, cucumber may be used for the treatment of diabetes, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Cucumber Protects the Artery Integrity Against the Onset of Cardiovascular Disease (CVD)

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a class of diseases associated with blockage of blood vessels that heart disease and stroke, depending on the affected location.

Most cases of CVD is caused by reduced oxygen-rich blood inducing heart damage or the death of neurons in the brain.

In other words, if the reduced oxygen-rich blood flow occurs in the heart, it causes heart disease. On the other hand, if the reduced rich oxygen blood occurs in the brain, it causes a stroke.

Most cases of CVD in the Western world is coronary heart disease involved in plaque accumulated on the arterial wall due to unhealthy diet with high saturated and trans fat and lifestyle such as smoking accompanied by an overdose of the supplement of calcium.

According to the US statistics, from 2006 to 2016, the US death rate from CVD decreased by 18.6% and from coronary heart disease by 31.8%.

Believe it or not, CVD has caused a significant burden in the US health care system with the annual total cost at $351.2 billion in 2014-2015, with $213.8 billion in direct cost, including 46% for inpatient care.

Some researchers suggested that the increase of CVD, particularly in coronary heart disease at the alarming rate in the US, probably associated with the promotion of high-fat diet over the past few decades, accompanied by a sedentary lifestyle.

Dr. Jane E Freedman wrote, "Over the past two decades, significant progress has been made in the treatment of acute and chronic cardiovascular disease".

And, "According to the National Center for Health Statistics (1999), 61% of adults in the U.S. are overweight (body mass index [BMI] 25 to 29.9 kg/m2), and 26% are obese (BMI ≥30 kg/m2). Elevated BMI, particularly caused by abdominal or upper-body obesity, has been associated with diseases and metabolic abnormalities including hyperinsulinemia, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and coronary heart disease".

Additonally, "Dietary intake of specific nutrients have been suggested as a means of modifying the progression of cardiovascular disease. One such example is the proposed use of foods rich in select vitamins or flavonoids. Epidemiologic studies have reported an inverse relationship between the total dietary intake of plant flavonoids and the incidence of cardiovascular disease".

In other words, if you follow the high-fat diet, you are at substantial risk of diseases associated with obesity, including CVD.

The cucumber plant is a species of Cucumis Sativus, belongs to the family Cucurbitaceae and native to Western Asia. It is a creeping vine with roots in the ground and grows up with the support of frames.

On finding a natural compound which has a potential effect on endothelium in the onset of cardiovascular diseases(CVD), researchers examined the water/ethanol extract of Cucumis sativus L. (CSE) fruit anti CVD activity.

The study included water/ethanol extract of Cucumis sativus L. (CSE) fruit effect in the attenuation the damaging effect of pro-inflammatory lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in vitro model of endothelial cells associated with the onset of CVD.

According to the tested assay, administration of CSE reduced LPS-induced cytotoxicity and decreased the cellular detachment, restoring the expression of tight junction ZO-1 in the contribution to barrier function.

In protein analysis, Cucumis sativus L. inhibited the early secretion of inflammatory IL-8 and Granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF) and inflammatory cytokines IL-6 and IL-1α occurred late at 7 and 24 h respectively.

Additionally, in the prevention of the overexpression of pro-inflammatory cytokines, CSE stimulated the secretion of anti-inflammatory IL-10 and increased the production of IL-18 and IFN-γ in the modulation of the immune response.

Furthermore, according to the tested doses differentiation, the angiogenetic activity induced by inflammatory LPS was also prevented by the injection of Cucumis sativus L. extract.

Dr. wrote, at the end of the experiment, " Our results have clearly demonstrated that Cucumis sativus L. extract has attenuated lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammatory response in endothelial cells (associated with the risk of CVD)".

Moreover, also in vivo, extracted the compounds of Cucumis melo L. protected the impairment of the endothelial barrier associated with the risk CVD induced by intraperitoneal injection of a high dose of CuEC (2 mg/kg).

In other words, cucurbitacins at a higher dose can induce toxicity to the cells of endothelium, however, at the low doses, CuEC (1 mg/kg) can lead to a decline in systolic blood pressure (SBP) without causing toxicity in mice by suppressing the angiotensin II (Ang II)-induced SBP increase.

Interestingly, the efficacy of CuEC antihypertensive property was involved in facilitating acetylcholine-mediated vasodilation in mesenteric arteries of tested mice.

Researchers after taking into account of co and con-founders said, " In vitro studies showed that CuEC induced vasodilation in a dose-dependent manner in mesenteric arteries of both mice and rats. Pretreatment with CuEC inhibited phenylephrine-mediated vasoconstriction".

Taken altogether, cucumber and its bioactive compound cucurbitacin B (CuB) at the lower dose may be used for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of CuB in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Onion, the Best Liver Protective Healthy Food

The liver is the largest internal organ and the only organ in the human body that can regenerate itself.

The liver is the first line of the bodily toxin defense by filtering the blood comes from the digestive tract, before passing them to the rest of the body.

The liver also produces cholesterol that plays a critical role in building a strong cell wall, producing steroid hormones and vitamin D and aiding the digestive function in food absorption and detoxifying chemicals and metabolizes drugs.

The hepatoprotective or liver protective effect is an action that maintains the healthy function of the liver against any harmful toxins.

Symptoms of liver diseases include jaundice, abdominal pain, and swelling, swelling in the legs and ankles, itchy skin, dark urine, and pale stool color, and tendency to bruise easily.

There are no exact causes of liver disease. Viruses, toxins, genetics, alcohol, and unknown causes are some prevalent factors found in patients with chronic liver disease, inclduing cancer.

In the US, most cases of liver disease are a result of hepatitis viral infection and autoimmune diseases. Infectious viral hepatitis can produce toxins to protect them against the antioxidant enzymes produced by the host body and prevent the attack of the systematic immune response.

Furthermore, in recent year, excessive alcohol drinking has been found to induce alcoholic liver disease in many parts of Asia and America.

The onion is a plant in the genus Allium, belongings to the family Alliaceae, a close relation of garlic. It is often called the "king of vegetables" because of its pungent taste and found in a large number of recipes and preparations spanning almost the totality of the world's cultures.

Depending on the variety, an onion can be sharp, spicy, tangy, pungent, mild or sweet.
On finding a potential compound which processes liver protective activity, researchers examined the effects of onion and garlic extracts on cadmium (Cd)-induced liver oxidative damage in rats.

The study included
* Cd group was challenged with 3CdSO(4).8H(2)O (as Cd; 1.5 mg/kg bw per day per oral) alone, and

* The extract-treated groups were pretreated with varying doses of onion and/or garlic extract (0.5 and 1.0 ml/100 g bw per day per oral) for a week and thereafter co-treated with Cd (1.5 mg/kg bw per day per oral) for 3 weeks.

Based on the tested differentiation, Cd group showed a significant increase in the levels of lipid peroxidation and glutathione S-transferase, whereas antioxidant enzymes such as glutathione, superoxide dismutase, and catalase levels were decreased in the liver.

Furthermore, liver oxidative stress markers such as alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST), and alkaline phosphatase were also found to increase in the Cd group.

In other words, Cd showed induced oxidative damage in rat liver.

Injection of garlic and onion extract not only inhibited all parameters in the Cd group but also exerted a liver protective effect in a dose-dependent manner.

Based on the findings, researchers wrote, "high dose of onion and a moderate dose of garlic extracts possibly via reduced lipid peroxidation and enhanced antioxidant defense system that is insufficient to prevent and protect Cd-induced hepatotoxicity".

Taken altogether, onion may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of liver alcoholic cytotoxicity pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Detoxification: Fennel, The Potent and Functional Food Which Protects the Liver Against Toxicity

Fennel may be considered a functional food in exhibited liver protective effect against toxicity, some scientists suggested.

Liver protection in an action that prevents injury and damage of the liver, regardless of the causes.

Researchers do not know the exact cause of liver disease. However, they do know that genes inherited from the parents, aging, and viral and bacterial infection are associated with the increased risk of liver disease.

Additionally, long-term excessive alcohol drinking and obesity are also some prevalent risk factors for the onset of liver disease.

Untreated liver disease or liver disease that is not treated properly overtime can increase the risk of cirrhosis, a leading cause of liver failure and a life-threatening condition.

Dr. William Nseir, the lead author in the assessment of the role of diet and lifestyle changes in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease wrote, "A combination of dietary modifications and increased physical activity remains the mainstay of NAFLD management. It is hard to maintain this mode of management; however, it seems to have significant long-term benefits" and "Furthermore, NAFLD patients, whether obese or not, should be educated that a healthy diet and physical activity have benefits beyond weight reduction".

These results suggested that change of diet and lifestyle with moderate exercise may have a strong effect on the prevention of liver disease.

Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) is a plant species of the genus, belonging to Apiaceae (Umbelliferae), native to the Mediterranean.

The herb has been used in traditional and herbal medicine as warming, carminative, antispasmodic, antidepressant agent and to stimulate the appetite, ease indigestion, soothe coughing, reduce intestinal spasms, to regulate the menstrual cycle and relieve PMS,...

In the evaluation of the liver protective effect against acute hepatotoxicity induced by carbon tetrachloride (CLL4) in the rat model, researchers found that oral administration of essential oil isolated from the fennel exerts a strong activity in the decrease of levels of serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and bilirubin, the potential causes of liver damage through their toxic effects.

Further analysis insisted that the hepatoprotective activity of the essential oil was attributed to the expression of phytochemical constituents d-limonene and β-myrcene in the inhibition of the levels of carbon tetrachloride in catalyzing liver toxicity and initiating liver lesion and liver fibrosis.

Additional differentiation of the hepatic fibrosis model in rats induced by subcutaneous injection with 40% CCl4 olive oil mixture with 94 male SD rats given high lipoid-low protein animal feeds for 5 weeks then randomly divided into six groups, including blank control group (A-group), 8 rats was feed in normal, prevention model control group (B-group), 10 rats given saline solution by intragastric administration during the make of hepatic fibrosis model and FVM prevention group (C-group), 10 rats given FVM by intragastric administration during the make of hepatic fibrosis model; model control group (D-group), FVM treatment group (E-group) and Fuzhenghuayu treatment group (F-group), after assessing the results from the 5-th weekend, A, B, C- group rats sacrificed at the 6-th, 7-th, 8-th, 9-th weekend and 4-6 rats in D, E, F-group sacrificed., researchers indicated that

* The expression of alpha-smooth muscle actin(a-SMA) associated with liver damage and correlated positively in recurrent HCV hepatitis group are significantly higher in the HBV cirrhosis detected by immunohistochemical staining assay.

* Serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), an amino acid found in proteins and intermediate in cellular energy production presented in the blood of tested subjects may be an indication of liver damage.

Low levels of ALT are found in the blood profiles of healthy individuals.
* Similar to ALT, aspartate aminotransferase (AST) is an enzyme associated with the liver parenchymal cell and presented in low levels in the blood of healthy individuals but significantly higher in liver damage tested rats.

* Hyaluronic acid (HA) is distributed widely throughout connective, epithelial, and neural tissues, the prediction of liver damage, particularly in the risk of liver fibrosis.

* Increased levels of Laminin (LN), a protein of the extracellular matrix, is also associated with substantial risk with the development of liver fibrosis.

* Overexpression of levels of 8 - hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) is another indication of oxidative stress and also considered as a critical biomarker of carcinogenesis.

The increased levels of above expressions suggested substantial damage to the liver caused by ingestion of CCL4 in the non-fennel treatment group
However, application of fennel in such groups inhibited the overexpression of toxicity caused by the injection of CCL4 by restoring the normal levels of Serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), hyaluronic acid (HA), laminin (LN) and 8 - hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG).

Further analysis also showed that oral administration of fennel inhibited the levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) in precipitated oxidative stress through lipid peroxidation.

Some researchers suggested that levels of MDA may be used as a biomarker in the assessment of oxidative stress status in patients with liver disease or cancer.

Moreover, injection of fennel exerted liver protective and anti-inflammatory effects through its antioxidants overexpression and improved production of natural antioxidants in the host tissue such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase levels in inhibited oxidative stress initiated by CCL4

Precisely, fennel significantly decreased expression serums of ALT, AST, HA, and LN and MDA, 8-OHdG, fiber, and a-SMA expression in the FVM group and lowered inflammation grade and fibrosis stage compared to control group.

Dr. Zhang ZG, the lead authors, after taking into account other co-founders said, "Foeniculum Vulgare Mill declines liver inflammation response, and prevents the hepatic fibrosis progression,, this may be due to its effects of antioxidative results".

The findings suggested that fennel with abundant bioactive anethole may be considered a functional food in exhibited hepatoprotective effect through its anti-inflammatory and antioxidants activities.

Ginger, The Potential Anti Type 2 Diabetes Pungent Spice, Scientists Say

Ginger may be next generation whole food used for the prevention and treatment of type 2 diabetes, with no side effects, some scientists suggested.

Type 2 diabetes is a medical condition characterized by insufficient insulin entering the bloodstream to regulate glucose due to either cell in the pancreas dying off or receptor sites clogged up by fat and cholesterol.

Researchers do not know what causes the pancreas to die off or receptor sites clogged up. However, they do know obesity or overweight, gender, ethnicity, age, family history, gestation diabetes, are associated with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes.

Some researchers also suggested that people with certain medical conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome. and high blood pressure is more prone to the onset of the disease.

The most common symptoms of type 2 diabetes are increased thirst that won't stop with water intake, increased hunger (especially after eating), dry mouth, frequent urination, and unintentional weight loss.

If you experience some of the symptoms above, please make you check with your doctor to rule out the possibility of diabetes.

According to statistics, diabetes is one of the most common disease in the US. Approximately 10% or 29.1 million people in the United States have diabetes, accompanied by 8.1 million that are undiagnosed and unaware of their condition.

About 1.4 million new cases of diabetes are diagnosed in the United States every year. More than one in every 10 adults who are 20 years or older has diabetes.

Dr. Rita R. Kalyani in the study to examine the increase with age and risk of type 2 diabetes wrote, "The unprecedented aging of the world's population is a major contributor to the diabetes epidemic, and older adults represent one of the fastest-growing segments of the diabetes population".

"Almost one-third of U.S. adults over the age of 65 years have diabetes. Approximately half of those are undiagnosed, and an additional one-third of older adults have prediabetes" and "management of older adults with diabetes is clearly more complicated given the observation that they commonly have multiple coexisting medical conditions that can impact clinical management".

Compared to the general population risk of type 2 diabetes, the results clearly stated, the risk of type diabetes in elderly is 3 fold higher and the management of the disease is more difficult due accompanied by other medical conditions, such as high blood pressure and cholesterol

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) or ginger root, the second superfood used for thousands of years by mankind, is the genus Zingiber, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, native to Tamil.

The root has been used in traditional and Chinese medicine to treat dyspepsia, gastroparesis, constipation, edema, difficult urination, colic, etc.

With an aim to find a natural whole food for the prevention and treatment of diabetes with little or no side effects, researchers looked into the effects of ginger consumption on glycemic status, lipid profile, and some inflammatory markers in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

The double-blinded, placebo-controlled clinical trial, included 70 types 2 diabetic patients allocated randomly into the ginger group consumed 1600 mg ginger, and the control group consumed 1600 mg wheat flour daily for 12 weeks.

Patients treated with ginger demonstrated a significant effect in reducing the levels of fasting plasma glucose, 3 months average glucose concentration, insulin resistance.

Furthermore, the blood profile of the treatment group also displayed lower levels of triglyceride, total cholesterol, a hormone associated with lipid peroxidation. compared to the placebo group.

There were no significant differences in high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density lipoprotein LDL, and TNFα, the inflammatory cytokine between two groups.

The findings firmly indicated ginger improves insulin sensitivity and some fractions of lipid profiles and reduced inflammation in type 2 diabetic patients.

Additionally, with an aim to reaffirm the effects of ginger against the development of type 2 diabetes and diabetic complications, researchers investigated the effect of ginger supplementation on glycemic indices in Iranian patients with type 2 diabetes.

The double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trial included 20-60 -year-old patients with type 2 diabetes who did not receive insulin.

Participants in the intervention and control groups were received 3 g of powdered ginger or placebo (lactose) (in capsules) daily for 3 months.

At the end of the 3 months, researchers showed that all parameters associated with diabetes were reduced substantially in the treatment group compared to control.

More precisely, the differences between the ginger and placebo groups were statistically significant as follows: serum glucose (-19.41 ± 18.83 vs. 1.63 ± 4.28 mg/dL, p < 0.001), (Hemoglobin A1C)HbA1c percentage (-0.77 ± 0.88 vs. 0.02 ± 0.16%, p < 0.001), insulin (-1.46 ± 1.7 vs. 0.09 ± 0.34 μIU/mL, p < 0.001), insulin resistance (-16.38 ± 19.2 vs. 0.68 ± 2.7, p < 0.001), high-sensitive CRP (-2.78 ± 4.07 vs. 0.2 ± 0.77 mg/L, p < 0.001), paraoxonase-1 (PON-1) (22.04 ± 24.53 vs. 1.71 ± 2.72 U/L, p < 0.006), total antioxidant capacity (TAC) (0.78 ± 0.71 vs. -0.04 ± 0.29 µIU/mL, p < 0.01) and MDA (-0.85 ± 1.08 vs. 0.06 ± 0.08 µmol/L, p < 0.001) were significantly different.

Where paraoxonase ((PON)-1 is an enzyme associated with the protection against lipid oxidation, Malondialdehyde (MDA) is an oxidative stress marker.

Dr. Shidfar F, the lead scientist said, " the 3 months supplementation of ginger improved glycemic indices, TAC and PON-1 activity in patients with type 2 diabetes".

Taken altogether, ginger may be considered a functional food for the prevention and combined with the primary therapy for the treatment of type 2 diabetes with no side effects.

Eggplant, Night Shape Veggie Which Processes the Potential for the Prevention and Treatment Type 2 Diabetes

Eggplant, the night shape fruit or vegetable may have a strong effect in reducing the risk and treatment of type 2 diabetes, some researchers suggested.

Type 2 diabetes is a condition caused by insufficient insulin entering the bloodstream to regulate glucose.

The condition of insulin resistance is either caused by cells in the pancreas dying off or receptor sites clogged up by fat and cholesterol.

According to the US statistic in 2015, approximately 30.3 million Americans, or 9.4% of the population, had diabetes. and 1.25 million American children and adults have type 1 diabetes.

Some researchers suggested that the widespread type 2 diabetes in the US was associated with the promotion of the Western diet which has been found to complicate the risk of insulin receptor sites clogged up by fat and cholesterol, affecting the receptor in absorbing and releasing insulin from and to the body.

Dr. Merat S, the lead scientist in the study of a group of mice involved the Western diet risk of insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia wrote, "The Western diet group had higher average glucose levels (187+/-16 versus 159+/-12 mg/dL) and 4.5-fold higher plasma insulin levels".and "the Western diets commonly used in LDLR-/- mice may not only induce atherosclerosis, but also IR, potentially complicating the interpretation of results".

These results firmly suggested long-term followers of the Western diet high in saturated and trans fat, red meat, processed foods, and low in fruits and vegetables are the main culprits for the onset of insulin resistance, the early stage of type 2 diabetes.

Therefore, by the change to a healthy diet that reduces the intake of total fat (saturated fatty acids in particular) and increases the intake of dietary fiber by consuming more vegetables and fruits and whole-grain cereal products, diabetes is preventable.

Dr. Matti Uusitupa, MD, in the article of "Lifestyles Matter in the Prevention of Type 2 Diabetes" quoted, "In a Swedish uncontrolled study shown that an increase in physical activity and moderate weight loss reduced the incidence of type 2 diabetes by 50% in middle-aged men with IGT" and

"In a Chinese study of IGT patients, 6-year interventions with diet, physical activity, and diet plus physical activity resulted in an approximate 30–40% reduction in diabetes risk in both normal weight and overweight persons".

Eggplant is a species of S. melongena, belonging to the family Solanaceae and native to India, cultivated in southern and eastern Asia since prehistory.

The vegetable is famous with its deep purple and the best eggplant can be found from August through October when it is in the season. While it's generally thought of as a vegetable, eggplant is actually a fruit.

Chemical constituents
The vegetable chemical compounds containing include sterols (i.e. typical plant sterols, androstane, pregnane and cholestane derivatives, steroidal alkaloids, and sapogenins), phytosterols, triterpenes, δ-amyrin, Chlorogenic acid, Nasunin, and other Polyphenolic compounds.

In the concerns of the widespread of type 2 diabetes among Americans, researchers launched an investigation to examine the National Diabetes Education Program of NIH, Mayo Clinic, and American Diabetes Association recommendation of eggplant-based diet as a choice for the management of type 2 diabetes.

The recommendation is based on the rationale is the high fiber and low soluble carbohydrate content of eggplant.

Application of phenolic-enriched extracts of eggplant showed a moderate free radical scavenging-linked antioxidant activity and high alpha-glucosidase inhibition by preventing the glucosidase in breaking down starch and disaccharides to glucose and moderate to high angiotensin I-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibition activity in the prevention of β-cell dysfunction and apoptosis occurring in type 2diabetes.

By inhibiting these enzymes researchers suggested that intake of eggplant should provide a strong biochemical basis for the management of type 2 diabetes by controlling glucose absorption.

Dr.Kwon YI, the lead author said, "phenolic antioxidant-enriched dietary strategy also has the potential to reduce hyperglycemia-induced pathogenesis linked to cellular oxidation stress".

Further analysis of the phenolic antioxidant in the eggplant, researchers conducted an experiment on the member chlorogenic acids (CGAs) on chronic diseases including diabetes, by searching the database of online medical literature.

* The biological properties of CGA in addition to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects were found in some studies.

* CGA was found to exert pivotal roles in glucose and lipid metabolism regulation and on the related disorders, e.g. diabetes, cardiovascular disease (CVD), obesity, cancer, and hepatic steatosis.

* CGA demonstrated a wide range of potential health benefits, including its anti-diabetic, anti-carcinogenic, anti-inflammatory and anti-obesity impacts, may provide a non-pharmacological and non-invasive approach.

Taken altogether, eggplant processed a high amount of phenolic compound may be considered a functional vegetable in the prevention of type 2 diabetes and an adjunct therapy combined with primary medicine for the treatment of the disease.

Healthy Food Cucumber, the Best Antioxidant Functional Food

Antioxidants are stable molecules that inhibit oxidation produced either by the liver or from the consumption of antioxidant-rich foods.

In other words, antioxidants inhibit the unstable free radicals with a single electron in the outermost ring that facilitates the domino's reaction to cause oxidative stress.

Free radicals are unstable molecules existing everywhere in the environment and in the body. The air we breathe and the food we eat and cellular metabolism are found to induce the production of free radicals.

Free radicals in moderate are necessary for the proper function of our body, such as free radical NO which is needed to relax the blood vessels. However, overexpression of free radicals can induce oxidative stress in the tissues and organs, leading protein, lipid, and cellular DNA damage.

Overexpression of oxidative stress over time has linked to the onset of chronic diseases, inclduing arthritis, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancer.

In a healthy individual, antioxidant enzymes produced by the body are good enough to neutralize the levels of free radicals in the body. However, people with a weakened immune system may need an additional dietary source of antioxidant.

Most common risk factors associated with oxidative stress are antioxidants deficiency in the body caused by demographic, physical, lifestyle or nutritional factors.

Some researchers suggested people who smoke may be at the increased risk of oxidative stress.

Dr. the lead scientist wrote, "Cigarette smoking is a major risk factor for several human diseases. Chronic inflammation, resulting from increased oxidative stress, has been suggested as a mechanism that contributes to the increased susceptibility of smokers to cancer and microbial infections".

And, "Several studies have indicated greater levels of oxidative stress in cigarette smokers [31, 32], which is most likely attributed to the high concentration of ROS and nitrogen species (RNS) in cigarette smoke [3336]. In addition, cigarette smoke has been associated with elevated ROS production by leukocytes in the airways of both acute and chronic smokers [37]".

The results strongly suggested, if you smoke, your risk of diseases associated with oxidative stress increased substantially, compared to those who don't.

The cucumber plant is a species of Cucumis Sativus, belongs to the family Cucurbitaceae and native to Western Asia. It is a creeping vine with roots in the ground and grows up with the support of frames.

With an aim to find a natural compound which processes antioxidative stress, researchers examined the antioxidant activity of polysaccharide from cucumber (Cucumis saticus L.) prepared by the hydrothermal method.

According to the tested assays in the chemical analysis of body fluids, the trichloroacetic acid (TCA) method showed had a higher deproteinization percentage compared to other hydrothermal preparation.

In other words, the trichloroacetic acid (TCA) method demonstrated a little higher polysaccharide loss percentage due to the effect of the cucumber polysaccharide linkage by the β-glycosidic bonds.

According to the chemical constituent analysis, d-glucose, d-mannose, d-galactose, l-rhamnose, d-xylose, l-arabinose, d-glucuronic acid, and d-galacturonic acid worked synergistically in exerting scavenging ability against free radical superoxide anions.

Taken altogether, cucumber may be the beast antioxidant whole food for the treatment of diseases associated with oxidative stress, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Intake of CuB in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Eggplant, The Night Shape Veggie Which Blocks Melanoma Cells From Spreading, in Vivo and Vitro, Scientists Show

Eggplant may have a potential and substantial effect in reducing risk and treating melanoma, some scientists suggested.

Melanoma is a type of skin cancer characterized by irregular cell growth in the pigment-containing cell.

At the later stage, the cancerous cell may invade other healthy tissues and organs a distance away from the original site.

the exact causes of Melanoma are unknown. However, some researchers suggested that it is likely caused by a combination of factors.

Truly, certain risk factors, such as environmental and genetic factors, exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun are associated with increased risk of the disease.

According to statistics, approximately 87,110 new cases of invasive melanoma were diagnosed in the U.S. in 2017.

The American Cancer association single out mutation of tumor suppressor genes such as CDKN2A and CDK4 that preventing them from doing their normal job of controlling cell growth is one of the major causes of melanoma.

If you experience some of the symptoms of sores that do not heal. Pigment, spreading redness or swelling, persistent itchiness, tenderness or pain,.... and bleeding from an existing mole. Please check with your doctor to rule out the possibility.

The 5 years survival rate of early diagnosis of Melanoma is about 97% and 10-year survival is around 95%.

Eggplant is a species of S. melongena with deep purple color, belongings to the family Solanaceae and native to India, cultivated in southern and eastern Asia since prehistory.

In the evaluation of the effect of glycoalkaloids, the nitrogen-containing secondary plant metabolites found in numerous Solanaceous plants including eggplants in numbers of cancer cell lines, researchers showed that the isolated phytochemicals express a significant effect of inhibition of the process of the early stage of various types of cancer occurrence through inducing cancer cells apoptosis.

Further analysis, glycoalkaloids efficacy was attributed to the derived phytochemical compound solamargine inactivation of antioxidant activity against the formation of skin cancer through expression of several biomarkers and signaling pathways.

In primary melanoma cell lines WM239 and WM115, application of solamargine with half inhibitory concentration IC50 demonstrated a profound effect of inhibited the growth of metastatic cancer cells and initiated apoptosis, through overexpression of lysosomal membrane permeabilization induced by leaky lysosomes during cell death, detected by lysosomalgalectin puncta assay, without causing damage to normal and benign skin cells, namely, WM35.

Observation of the cellular necrosis also indicated that solamargine's anti-skin cancer effect was confirmed by the overexpression of cathepsin B which is considered as a biomarker of malignant lesions and various cancers by triggering extrinsic mitochondrial death pathway function in the activated cellular apoptosis through the release of cytochrome c from mitochondria during the early stages of apoptosis and apoptotic tumor necrosis factor receptor-1(TNFR1).

Moreover, injection of the derivative solamargine also disrupted the intrinsic apoptosis pathway
through reduced expression of hILP/XIAP, an inhibitor of apoptotic cell death by blocking tumor cell proliferation.

Additional differentiation also suggested that the derivative solamargine also blocked the
expression of TNF receptor-associated with tumors proliferation, survival, and differentiation to increase expression of proteins Bcl-xL, and Bcl2 that regulate anti-apoptosis, anti-cell cycle arrest.

Unlike other phytochemicals such as green tea EGCG inhibited apoptosis through both intrinsic and extrinsic apoptosis pathways, eggplant derivative solamargine selectively triggered melanoma cancer cells death through only death receptors.

After taking account of other confounders, Dr, Sana S. said, " Solamargine showed high efficacy in vitro particularly against the vertical growth phase (forming a true tumor) melanoma cells".

Taken together, eggplant with abundant glycoalkaloids may be considered as a functional food to ameliorated the risk, progression, and treatment of melanoma. Intake of eggplant supplements should be taken with special care and only prescribed by experts.

However, additional data collection on large example size and multi-centers studies performed with human consumption of the eggplant whole food during the course of the disease will be necessary to complete the picture of the night shape veggies anti-cancer possibilities.

Healthy Foods Broccoli does NOT have a Short Term Benefits on Asthma

Respiratory Disease is a medical condition which affects the breathing organ and tissues including Inflammatory lung disease, Obstructive lung diseases, Restrictive lung diseases, Respiratory tract infections, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, alveoli, the nerves and muscles breathing, etc.

The lungs are a pair of organs located on either side of the chest (thorax) with a function to bring fresh oxygen into the body and remove the carbon dioxide and other waste gases from the body.

According to the statistics provided by the Lung Association over 3 million Canadians are affected by one of five serious respiratory diseases – asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, tuberculosis (TB), and cystic fibrosis.

In 2017, 28,600 Canadians were diagnosed with lung cancer, represented 14% of all new cancer cases. Lung cancer caused the death of 21,100 Canadians in the same year.

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease affecting the airway of the lung with recurring symptoms, such as wheezing, chest tightness, shortness of breath, and coughing. The disease affects people of all ages, and mostly starts during childhood.

Besides episodes of wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath, patients with asthma also experience symptoms of reversible airflow obstruction and bronchospasm.

Asthma attack in most cases is triggered by exposure to various irritants and substances that trigger allergies (allergens). However, genetic preposition and family history are also found in patients with asthma.

Asthma in some cases can interfere with daily activities and may lead to a life-threatening asthma attack. Treatment of asthma is to reduce the frequent episode and severity of the attacks.

According to the statistics provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in the US, 1 in 13 people have asthma. In other words, over 26 million Americans have asthma and half of that is children.

Believe it or not, African-Americans in the U.S. die from asthma at a higher rate than people of other races or ethnicities.

Broccoli is a mustard/cabbage plant, belongings to the family Brassicaceae. The veggie has large flower heads, usually green in color with a mass of flower heads surrounded by leaves and evolved from a wild cabbage plant from the continent of Europe.

With an aim to find a natural food for the prevention and treatment of respiratory diseases, researchers examined the effect of Broccoli sprouts (BS) on airway inflammatory and physiologic outcomes, and OS in adults with asthma and allergic sensitization to an indoor allergen.

A double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized trial to compare the effects of BS with placebo (alfalfa sprouts [AS]) on airway inflammation and markers of OS included 40 adults (aged 18-50 years) who were randomized to eat either (a) 100 g of BS daily or (b) 100 g of AS daily for 3 days.
According to the tested analysis,
* BS ingestion for 3 consecutive days did not reduce FeNO in asthma, despite causing a marked increase in serum SFN concentrations (21 vs 22 parts per billion, P = .76).

* Furthermore, BS administration did not induce cytoprotective antioxidant genes in either PBMCs or nasal epithelial cells,

* Moreover, BS consumption did not reduce OS and inflammatory markers or improve lung function.

In other words, short term interference of BS showed no improvement of the symptoms on asthmatic patients

Based on the results, researchers wrote, " Ingestion of the whole BS for 3 days does not appear to improve eosinophilic pulmonary inflammation, inflammatory and OS biomarkers, or clinical features of asthma among atopic adults with asthma despite resulting in a marked increase in serum SFN levels."

And "However, because variability exists in the timing and methods of detection for SFN conjugate levels, it is difficult to compare systemic SFN levels across studies".

Intake of SFN in the form of supplements should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Healthy Food Cucumber's Cucurbitacin B (CuB) Gut Microbiota

Gut Microbiota is a community of microorganisms living in our gut. Under normal conditions, the ratio of the gut microbiome composition is balanced.

However, the use of antibiotics, illness, stress, aging, bad dietary habits, and lifestyle may alternate the ratio by increasing the growth of "bad" bacterias, leading the development of chronic diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, obesity, cancer, and autism.

In other words, imbalanced of the gut microbiota may have a strong and negative impact on the immunity, the digestive, fat and carbohydrate metabolism, and the central nervous system

* In immunity, the balance of the gut microbes showed to stimulate the immune function against inflammatory immune disorders.

* In the digestive system, balanced gut microbes protect the gut against gastrointestinal diseases and non-gastrointestinal diseases.caused by overexpression of bad bacteria.

* In carbohydrate metabolism, gut microbes influence the nutrient extraction from the diet, thus reducing the risk of obesity and obese complication.

* Neurologically, gut microbiota can control brain insulin signaling and metabolite levels that play a critical role in neurobehaviors.

Out of many prevalent factors that cause the onset of the unbalanced ratio of gut microbiota, some researchers suggested that the Western diet may have negatively influenced to induce overgrowth of bad microorganisms in the gut.

Dr. Marit K. Zinöcker, the lead scientist wrote, "Western diet promotes inflammation that arises from both structural and behavioral changes in the resident microbiome"

And, "The environment created in the gut by ultra-processed foods, a hallmark of the Western diet, is an evolutionarily unique selection ground for microbes that can promote diverse forms of inflammatory disease".

The cucumber plant is a species of Cucumis Sativus, belongings to the family Cucurbitaceae and native to Western Asia. It is a creeping vine with roots in the ground and grows up with the support of frames.

With an aim to find a natural compound which enhances the gut microbiomes composition, researchers compared the effects of carrot, cucumber, and broccoli seed flours extracts with 50% acetone on gut microbiota modulating capacity.

In vitro, all three seed flour extracts enhanced the total number of gut bacteria and altered the abundance of specific bacterial phylum or genus.

In other words, cucumber showed a potential effect to improve the ratio of gut microbiota in the flavor of the "good" bacterias, similar to those of carrot and broccoli.

In J774A.1 cells, cucumber also exerted a similar activity by protecting the microbiota that exhibits anti-inflammatory activity by suppressing LPS induced production pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-1β and COX-2 mRNA expressions.

Furthermore, in obesity, induced progression of metabolic disorders, especially type 2 diabetes (T2DM), cucumber not only improved IR in obese mice and relieving inflammation in adipose tissue and blood but also enhanced the microbiota composition ratios.

More precisely, cucumber improved the ratio of gut microbiome composition by promoting IR and reducing inflammation.

Taken altogether, cucumber may be used for the improvement of gut microbiota, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Ginger, The Potential Anti Type 2 Diabetes Pungent Spice, Scientists Say

Ginger may be next generation whole food used for the prevention and treatment of type 2 diabetes, with no side effects, some scientists suggested.

Type 2 diabetes is a medical condition characterized by insufficient insulin entering the bloodstream to regulate the glucose due to either cell in pancreas dying off or receptor sites clogged up by fat and cholesterol.

Researchers do not know what causes the pancreas dying off or receptor sites clogged up.

According to statistics, diabetes is one of the most common diseases in the US.
