Ab Diet Recipes That Are Fun and Easy

Abs diet recipes have something of a reputation for being dull. Ever gone to a restaurant and ordered the "diet plate", only to have your waiter bring you a plate of Jello and cottage cheese?
The hardest part of defining abs is finding them. In order to see your abs, you must lose the body fat. After your fat is gone, you still have to build up muscle tissue, and that requires protein.
A low fat, high protein diet doesn't need to be boring, though.
Here are a few fun, easy recipes to help you get started.
Tofu
Tofu is very high in protein and is great for building lean muscle. It is very common in Asian cuisine and is becoming popular in Western cooking because it can be a versatile, low-fat replacement for meat or dairy in many dishes. It can be found in the produce section of most grocery stores.
Tofu Strawberry Banana Shake
INGREDIENTS:
1 block silken or soft tofu
1 frozen banana
1 cup crushed pineapple (with juice)
1/2 cup skim milk or soy milk
4 strawberries
PREPARATION:
1. Drain the tofu and cut it into chunks.
2. Chop the banana and remove the strawberry stems.
3. Mix all ingredients in blender or food processor.
Time to Prepare: 5 minutes
Makes 1 serving
Tip: Add protein powder for an extra boost.
Lentils
Lentils (both red and brown) are also a protein powerhouse. The following recipe looks so complicated, you'll impress your dinner date. But don't let the long ingredients list fool you - it's so simple that you can make it even if you have no cooking experience. Add the spices to your taste to make it mild or spicy.
Indian Curried Red Lentil Soup
(Taken from Vegetarian Times, March 2004)
1 cup red lentils (rinsed)
4 1/2 cups nonfat vegetable stock
2 Tbs. nonfat plain yogurt
1 tsp. curry powder
1 tsp. grated fresh ginger (or powdered)
1/2 tsp. ground cumin
1/2 tsp. cayenne
1/2 tsp. onion powder
Possible garnishes may be:
* Shredded coconut
* Dried peanuts
* Cilantro
* Diced red pepper
* Chutney
* Raisins
1. Put lentils and vegetable stock in a large
saucepan, and bring to a boil over medium-high
heat.
2. Reduce heat to medium, and
cook for about 20 minutes, or until lentils
are tender.
3. Reduce heat to very low.
4. Put 2 cups lentils and yogurt into
blender, and puree until smooth.
5. Recombine with soup in pan, and stir in seasonings.
6. Heat and serve, garnishing each portion as desired.
Time to Prepare: 30 minutes
Makes 6 servings
There are many places on the Web where you can find free, simple recipes to lower your fat and build your muscle.
If you're bored of the same old thing, try Japanese cooking - it is typically low in fat and high in vitamins and protein. Also, even if you're not a vegetarian, check out some vegetarian recipes. Vegetarian cuisine has virtually no fat and a lot of health benefits.
Remember, abs diet recipes don't have to be dull and bland. Get creative with your cooking. Your abs and your taste buds will both thank you.
I understand how challenging it is to get six pack abs. And without a good diet, exercise and mindset program, it's almost impossible. It's important to choose a program carefully. Check out: truth about 6 pack abs. It's popular because it's one of the best abs workout programs. Get started now!

  Posted by Chantel Martiromo. research contributed by PubMed

According to the study by the, posted in PubMed, food phytestrogens and prevention of postmenopausal osteoporotic and cardiovascular disease. Phytestrogens are diphenolic compounds, widely found in plants and foods, with structural and biological estrogen-like similarities. Their anti-estrogenic effects are well known and studied due to the possibility to prevent some tumors such as breast and prostate cancer. In menopause they have an estrogenic-like action on lipidic and bone metabolism. Phytestrogens rich foods can positively affect the postmenopausal osteoporotic and cardiovascular pathology.

Dietary phytoestrogens in the prevention of long-term postmenopausal diseases

 Posted by Chantel Martiromo. research contributed by PubMed

According to the study by the University of Bari, posted in PubMed, Phytoestrogens (PEs) are natural compounds, with a biological activity like estrogen, which comprise isoflavones, lignans and coumestans. A traditional Asiatic phytoestrogen-rich diet is associated with a lower incidence of breast cancer and postmenopausal illness, and much evidence indicates that PEs prevent bone resorption, increase bone density and reduce cholesterol. The estrogenic effects of phytoestrogens can be useful in preventing postmenopausal osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease.

Tofu - A Wonderful Vegan Diet Ingredient

First: What is vegan? Ever heard of someone that referred to themselves as a 'vegetarian?' These folks do not eat meat. A Vegan takes their diet a step further: their diets contain no animal by-products. They consume no milk, eggs, dairy, no pasta made from eggs and no gelatin. It is quite surprising when one realizes how much of the American diet actually comes from animals.
What most people don't realize is that it's very possible, indeed even probable, for a creative chef to make vegan meals just as exciting and full of variety as any other type of cuisine. In the absence of milk in one's diet along with so many fast food chains out there today the thought of a vegan diet may be rather intimidating. However, with the right choices in recipes, vegan dishes can be wonderfully flavored and indeed, a joy to eat!
When a chef prepares a vegan dish, he/she naturally, cannot rely on heavy, flavorful ingredients like meat and dairy to get its flavor and substance. This is where creativity and alternative ideas come in with rich spices, creative texture combinations along with wheat based starches.
Tofu, a soybean curd, is a wonderfully unique vegan food ingredient. Tofu, with its spongy consistency, has a bland flavor which absorbs (like a sponge), whatever flavors it comes in contact with; such as curry, soy sauces, humus, oregano, basil, tomato sauce, garlic as well as an abundance of other wonderful spices.
Consider a tofu based dish along with some stir-fry fresh vegetables and a hearty salad overflowing with fresh beans and a sweet oil dressing. Delicious! And so very healthy!

Phytoestrogen supplements for the treatment of hot flashes

Posted by Chantel Martiromo. research contributed by PubMed

Ina study to compare the efficacy and safety of 2 dietary supplements derived from red clover with placebo in symptomatic menopausal women, posted in PubMed, indicated that of 252 participants, 246 (98%) completed the 12-week protocol. The reductions in mean daily hot flash count at 12 weeks were similar for the Promensil (5.1), Rimostil (5.4), and placebo (5.0) groups. In comparison with the placebo group, participants in the Promensil group (41%; 95% confidence interval [CI], 29%-51%; P =.03), but not in the Rimostil group (34%; 95% CI, 22%-46%; P =.74) reduced hot flashes more rapidly. Quality-of-life improvements and adverse events were comparable in the 3 groups.

Phytoestrogens and the menopause

Posted by Chantel Martiromo. research contributed by PubMed

According to the study by the Royal Hospital for Women, posted in PubMed, studies to date would suggest that phytoestrogenic products may help around two-thirds of women to cope with menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes, but there is little evidence that these products will help with vaginal dryness. It seems probable that these products lower cholesterol and therefore cardiovascular risk; however, it is important that women who use such products to alleviate menopausal symptoms have a bone density performed every 2 or 3 years to assess their risk of osteoporosis.
