How to Protect Your Skin from All Forms of Acne Naturally

Extracts of green tea may have a therapeutic and positive effect in protection against the development of all forms of acne, some scientists suggested.

Green tea is a precious drink with numbers of health benefit known to almost everyone in Asia and the Western world.

Acne is a condition of skin diseases characterized by the occurrence of inflamed or infected sebaceous glands in the skin.

Serious types of acne such as nodules and cysts burst and damage nearby skin can lead to forming of scarring.

In the examined the effects of EGCG, the bioactive major polyphenol of green tea on human SEB-1 sebocytes with function in secreted sebum in patients with acne, researchers found that EGCG exerted a significant antioxidant activity in reduced sebum secretion by modulating the AMPK -SREBP-1 signaling pathway through AMPK expression.

SEB-1 sebocytes is a human sebocyte culture model used intensively in studying sebaceous gland activity and regulating and treating acne.

The AMPK are pathways played an essential role in the regulation of sebum production and secretion of sebaceous glands.

Application of green tea EGCG also demonstrated a strong effect in reduced sebum in the induction of inflammation of sebaceous glands, through suppressing
* The NF-κB in induced transcription of proinflammatory genes in cellular response to stress and pathogens and

* The AP-1 pathway, a transcription factor with function in regulated gene expression of inflammation factors in response to a variety of stimuli, including bacterial and viral infections.

Furthermore, administration of EGCG also found to facilitate a huge effect in targeting almost all the pathogenic features of acne through exhibited a significant cytotoxicity of SEB-1 sebocytes in the induction of viability of cutibacterium (propionibacterium) acnes.

Dr. Yoon JY, the lead author at the Seoul National University Hospital, after taking into account of all findings said, " EGCG significantly improved acne in an 8-week randomized, split-face, clinical trial, and was well tolerated".

Amazingly, the randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial conducted from May 2012 through October 2013, of a total of 64 of 80 women, from 25 to 45 years of age with moderate-to-severe acne randomly assigned to receive either 1500 mg of decaffeinated GTE or placebo (cellulose) daily for 4 weeks, there were statistically significant differences in inflammatory lesion counts found on the nose, periodically and on the chin between the two groups but no significant differences of total lesion counts.

Within the group, green tea application displayed significant reductions in inflammatory lesions distributed on the forehead and cheek with no difference in total lesion counts.

Moreover, the green tea group also significantly reduced total cholesterol levels compared to the cellulose group.

However, due to the limitation of the small sample and short time period, researchers postulated that more research is required to determine whether a decaffeinated GTE standardized for EGCG content will provide clinical benefits in women with post-adolescent acne.

Additionally, in selected 59 studies with eight met the inclusion criteria to evaluate the effect of tea polyphenols in reduced sebum production in the skin and for treatment of acne vulgaris by reviewing the literature published on PubMed, researchers suggested that application of tea polyphenols topically may have a beneficial effect in reduced sebum secretion and in treatment of acne through inhibited lipid synthesis by the sebaceous glands.

Truly, according to the University of Miami, in the examine 12 patients with mild-to-moderate acne vulgaris received green tea application twice daily for a period of 6 weeks, topical injection of 2% green tea lotion was found to be effective in treatment with statistically significant in mean total lesion count (TLC) decreased from 24 measured at the baseline to 10 after 6 weeks treatment, a reduction of 58.33%.

The mean severity index (SI) from all patients also decreased from 2.05 before treatment to 1.25 after 6 weeks of treatment, a decrease of 39.02%.

Dr. Elsaie ML, the lead scientists said, "Topical 2% green tea lotion is an effective, cost-effective treatment for mild-to-moderate acne vulgaris".

Taking all together, green tea and its bioactive major polyphenol may be used safely in reduced risk, progression, and treatment of all forms of acne pending to a large sample size and multi-center clinical trial.

Oral administration of green tea extract should be taken with exceptional care as some cases of acute liver toxicity were reported literaturally.

How to Block the Entry Phase of Prostate Cancer Cells Development Naturally

Herbal Catnip may have a potential and substantial effect of reducing the risk of pre-malignant cells, caused by slowly changing from normal cells to cancer-like properties in initiated prostate cancer, some scientists suggested.

Catnip is also known as catswort, or catmint, a plant of Nepeta, belongings to the family of Lamiaceae, native to Europe and Asia'

The plant has been used in herbal medicine as an insect repellent and to treat digestive disorders, children restlessness and nervousness, fevers, cold and flu, skin irritations stimulate sweating, promote menstruation, etc..

Ingredients
Besides the major constituent of terpenoid nepetalactone, the herb also contains α-Pinene, β-Pinene, Cyclohexen-1-yl-methyl ketone, Triplal, Thymol, Nepetalactone, Nepetalactone, etc..

Prostate cancer is a medical condition characterized by irregular cell growth in the issues of the prostate.

At the later stage, the cancerous cell may invade other healthy tissues and organs a distance away from the original site.

According to statistic, based on 2012-2014 data, approximately 11.6 percent of men are diagnosed with prostate cancer at some points during their lifetime.

On PC3 and DU145 prostate cell lines, in comparison of the effective of methanol extracts, n-hexan, methylene chloride (CH2Cl2), ethyl acetate (EtOAc), n-butanol (n-BuOH), and H2O fractions and the essential oil isolated from the aerial parts of the catnip to examine the cytotoxic and apoptogenic activity, researchers found that application of ethyl acetate extract  compared to other extracts, displays a strong inhibited property in decreased prostate cancer cell viability in PC3 cell line, through cell cycle arrest in the sub-G1 area.

The ethyl acetate extract also caused lost some DNA structure in tested cell lines, in a concentration-dependent manner.

Furthermore, through observation of IC 50 values, ethyl acetate (EtOAc) expressed a greater significant activity in estrogen receptor positive PC3 cells which are more sensitive to the cytotoxic effects in comparison with low hormone-receptor presenting DU-145 cells.

Interestingly, ethyl acetate (EtOAc) in inhibited PC3 cancer cell line with the lesser value of IC50 and greater effect than other tested compounds,

The results of these effects were attributed to the activity of PC3 cells which process a property to change its negative androgen receptors profile to positive (PC3AR+)

The study also indicated that more cytotoxic activity of N. cataria found on PC3 cells in comparison with DU145 AR¯ cells might also be associated with the different response of cells to sex hormones.

Additionally, according to the Western blotting analysis administration of ethyl acetate extract after 48 hours securely induced cancer apoptosis through activated caspase 3 cleavage and Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP).

Caspase 3 cleavage is an important marker associated with the progression of the cancer cell’s entry point into the apoptotic signaling pathway.

Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) plays an essential role in the execution of the cells apoptosis and is considered an early indicator of apoptosis.

Moreover, researchers also found that the Catnip extract also increased the level of Bax Protein after 48 hours of exposure in initiated cancer cell apoptosis with release of cytochrome c, an early phase of cell degradation and death.

After taking into account of other confounders, Dr. Emami SA, the lead author said, " the semi-polar EtOAc extract of N. cataria induces apoptosis in pc3 cells to compare to DU-145 cells and further analytical assays are suggested to identify the active phytochemicals possess cytotoxic activity".

Taking all together, Catnip and its extract may be considered as a functional food in reduced risk of Prostate cancer through blocking the entry phase of the onset of prostate cancer.

Beware Of Some Life Threatening And Chronic Complications Associated To Over Growth of Candida

Candida albicans are members of a large group of microorganism whose cells contain complex structures enclosed within the membranes, including yeast(2)(3), fungi(4)(5)(6), and mold(6) that live among the gut flora in the human mouth and gastrointestinal tract.

Non-albicans Candida (NAC) species cause 35-65% of all candidaemias in the general patient population(1).

In many cases, biofilm(microorganisms with cells stick to each other on a surface) formation(7) gene mutations(8) and overexpression of genes(9)(10) are often associated with increased Candida resistance toward antifungal agents.

According to the article of Health Line, the causes of overgrowth of candida include over the use of antibiotics in the vagina, pregnancy, uncontrolled diabetes. weak immune system,....... and lack of sleep.

Some life-threatening and chronic implications of candida overgrowth
1. Toxic shock syndrome(TSS)
Candida overgrowth can cause toxic shock syndrome (TSS)(157), a potentially fatal illness by producing toxins to suppress the immune system(158)(159), leading to infectious cause of high fever, accompanied by confusion, extreme fatigue and weakness, headache, severe diarrhea, sore throat, vomiting, widespread red rash, coma(161), and multiple organ failure(160).

2. Scalded skin syndrome (SSS)
Scalded skin syndrome is defined as a condition of skin infection inducing damage to the skin with marked shedding due to toxins(162) released by candida in suppressing the immune system(162).

Depending on severity, it can cause bloodstream infection(163) and electrolyte imbalance, involved in regulating myocardial and neurological function(164), fluid balance(165), oxygen delivery, etc., resulting in high morbidity and mortality(166).

Chronic diseases
3. Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)(167)(168)
As the condition worsens, candida takes advantage of weakened immune system and imbalances in the digestive system, allowing the fungus to overrun the digestive tracts(169), leading to gases which irritate the intestinal and stomach linings(171) and initiated pain(170)(172).

4. Chronic Sinusitis(173)
As candida growth occurs in the sinus cavities(173), it causes fungal serious infections, with symptoms of nasal congestion, facial pain, pressure, congestion, or fullness, reduced or absent sense of smell. Both chronic and acute fungal sinusitis require immediate treatment(174).

5. Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia syndrome is a chronic condition that causes intense pain in various places around the body, including muscles, connective tissues and joints, as well as a host of other symptoms, as a result of production of mycotoxins by overgrowth candida(175), causing autoimmune diseases(143)(144)(136) by triggering inflammation in the intestinal tract(151).

Fibromyalgia syndrome affects more than 6 million people in the United States.

6. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is defined as a health condition of persistent fatigue unrelated to exertion, it interferes with the patient daily activity, causing trouble staying on top of their responsibilities at home and on the job, etc.(176) due to production of mycotoxins by overgrowth candida(177)(178), triggering inflammation(179) in the intestinal tract.

Symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome include a headache, tender lymph nodes, fatigue, weakness, muscle, joint aches, inability to concentrate,(180) etc.

7. Thrush
Thrush is defined as a condition of infection of the mouth caused by overgrowth candida fungus(181)(182).

8. Eczema, or Atopic Dermatitis
Eczema is a general term for many types of skin inflammation (dermatitis). The most common form of eczema is atopic dermatitis in some cases caused by an overgrowth of candida(183)(184) as a result of immune suppressive factors(185).

The Whole Foods and Vegetables That Dissolve Chemical Carcinogens Before They Can Cause Cancers

Cruciferous vegetables with rich of phytochemicals may be the potential foods that dissolve chemical carcinogens toxic effect before they can induce the onset of cancers, some scientists suggested

Cancers are class of medical condition characterized by cells growth disorderly and uncontrollably in any tissue and organs in the body. In most cases, at the later stage, cancerous cells can travel a distance away to infect other healthy cells and tissue.

Chemical carcinogens are types of chemical compounds that can cause cancer, mostly man-made.

According to the Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto, sulforaphane (SFN), the isothiocyanate (ITC) group of organosulfur compounds found in cruciferous vegetable expressed chemopreventive properties involved detoxification processes of chemical carcinogens.

Certain chemicals, such as benzene, beryllium, asbestos, vinyl chloride, and arsenic are known to induce human carcinogens.

This is tough to believe that exposure to chemical carcinogens in the outdoors, at home, and at work is associated to increase the risk of getting cancer.

According to the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, "More than 100,000 chemicals are used by Americans, and about 1,000 new chemicals are introduced each year" and "These chemicals are found in everyday items, such as foods, personal products, packaging, prescription drugs, and household and lawn care products"(4).

The agency also suggested that some chemical carcinogens can be harmful, not all contact with chemicals is dangerous to health(4).

Risk of developing cancer is depended totally on how much, how long, how often, and when you are exposed to these chemicals.

It is true, long-term in contact with chemical carcinogens can lead to DNA alternation, the main cause of early onset of cancers(4).

Some researchers suggested that asbestos, nickel, cadmium, radon, vinyl chloride, benzene, and benzene may act alone or with other carcinogens to increase the prevalent risk(4)

Occasional exposure to chemicals in adults may be harmful to health, but to induce gene change is impossible.

However, when you are exposed is important because a small exposure in the womb, for example, may be more serious than a small exposure as an adult.

Dr. de Figueiredo SM, the lead author said, " In a dose-dependent manner, ITC inhibits the viability of human cancer cells, modifies epigenetic events that occur in cancer cells and present antiinflammatory effect acting during the initial of uncontrolled cell proliferation." and "Chemical carcinogens are types of cancer caused by chemical toxins in induction of cellular and chromosomes change, DNA damage,... ".

The chemoprotective activity of the vegetable is the result of the significant expression of the antioxidants in exhibited cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in cancer cells as well as acting as the post-initiation stages of carcinogenesis, as a 'suppressing' agent involving the ability to modulate the Nrf2 in reduced damage from oxidative damage.

In fact, besides used as a chemopreventive agent against chemical carcinogenesis, sulforaphane (SFN), the major chemical constituent of cruciferous vegetables also inhibited the drug-metabolizing enzymes that cause activation/neutralization of carcinogenic metabolites and protected normal healthy cells from environmental toxin-induced of cancers.

Furthermore, the phytochemical exhibited the molecular mechanisms responsible for the overall chemopreventive effects on selective cytotoxicity, in reduced oxidate stress, free radicals produced by lipid peroxidation in cells.

In the study of tobacco smoke carcinogens induced chemical tumors, cruciferous vegetable consumption has shown to inversely associate the development of cancer.

In animal experiments. the chemopreventive effects of isothiocyanates, another compound found in cruciferous vegetable, inhibited the metabolic activation of carcinogens by cytochrome P450s, enzymes with function in metabolized potentially toxic compounds.

Taking together, intake of cruciferous vegetables have potential health benefits against environment toxins in cancer development, but due to the small size of the sample, further studies are necessary to address its viability.

How to Normalize the Levels of Testosterone, Suggested By Scientists

Recent studies conducted by some academic institutes suggested that garlic may have a potential in modified the levels of serum testosterone in the blood, depending over or under expressions.

Sex hormone testosterone plays an essential role on the male reproductive physiology, including the testes, a primary productive organ in the production of spermatozoa and reproductive hormones.

Furthermore, the male steroid hormone also processes a specific function in building bone and muscle mass as well as stimulating sexual desire in both sexes.

In women, testosterone is produced by the ovaries in women in a small amount. The hormone also produced small quantities by the adrenal glands in both sexes.

Truly, overexpression of testosterone may cause reduced production of antioxidants, such as glutathione (GSH), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and catalase (CAT) by natural antioxidant enzymes and increased presence of free radical in the body, that can lead to cytotoxicity and weaken function of immune system.

In other words, abnormally high levels of testosterone in the blood can alter the balance the ratio of antioxidants and free radicals in the body, leading to free radicals in the induction of oxidative stress, a primarily causes of chronic ailments.

Some researchers suggested that overproduction of testosterone may associate to increase the risk of prostate cancer, caused by oxidative stress effects in the prostate gland.

On the other hand, underexpression of testosterone may induce symptoms of erectile dysfunction, reduced sperm count and sperm quality, decreased libido or sexual activity, infertility, reduced muscle mass...... and increased body fat.

According to the Catholic University of The Sacred Heart, hypogonadism in men also reduced production of natural antioxidants that also lead to oxidative stress, related to augmented cardiovascular risk(8).

In immune response, low levels of testosterone may increase immune production of white blood cells that protects the body against infection. However, a prolonged period of low levels of testosterone can also lead to long-term overproduction of white blood cells, a leading cause of autoimmune diseases.

Garlic may be the next generation of natural testosterone reducer or inducer. Garlic increases production of the hormone when it is low and inhibits excessive testosterone when it is high.

Garlic (Allium sativum) is a species in the onion genus, belongings to family Amaryllidaceae, native to central Asia.

The herb or food has been used popularly in traditional and Chinese medicine in treating common cold and flu to the Plague, blood pressure, cholesterol, natural antibiotic, etc.

Dr. Prasad S lead research at the Industrial Toxicology Research Centre, diallyl sulfide (DAS), a constituent of garlic, exerted antioxidant activities against testosterone-induced oxidative stress in male Swiss albino mice, by significantly restored the testosterone-induced antioxidant enzymes and decreased lipid peroxidation.

The effects of garlic supplementation on protein metabolism also suggested that dietary supplementation with 0.8 g/100 g garlic alters hormones associated with protein anabolism by increasing testicular testosterone and decreasing plasma corticosterone in rats fed a high protein diet.

In the concerns of conventional medicine driamycin (ADR), a potent cytotoxic drug that causes many adverse effects on different body organs, researchers at the Faculty of Medicine, Zagazig University conducted an experience to evaluate the effect of aged garlic extract (AGE) when it is used combination with driamycin (ADR).

At the end of the study, the researcher found that aged garlic extract (AGE), a garlic preparation, AGE can be used as an adjuvant therapy to resume male infertility and weak spermatogenesis induced by cytotoxic drugs or other environmental toxins through its cytoprotective and antioxidant properties.

In fact, like all natural phytochemicals, garlic is both testosterone booster and testosterone reducer, depending on the levels of testosterone in the body and amount of garlic intake.

However, the use of garlic extracts and supplements should be taken with care, as overdoses may induce liver toxicity.

The Herb and Plant That Inhibits Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOs)

Scientists from some respectable institutes suggested that aloe vera may have a potential and profound effect in reduced symptoms, risk, and treatment of polycystic ovarian syndrome(PCOs).

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is a condition characterized by endocrinologic diseases among reproductive-age women caused by undeveloped follicles clumping on the ovaries that interferes with the function of the normal ovaries associated with a high risk for metabolic disorder(1) as resulting of enlarged ovaries(2), leading to hormone imbalance(excessive androgen and anti-müllerian hormone (AMH) )(1)(3)(4)(5), induced Hirsutism(6)(7), reproductive disorder(10(12)), risks of type 2 diabetes(9)(10)(11), metabolic syndrome(10)(12) and early cardiovascular disease(8)(13), acne(10)(14), endometrial cancer(18)(19),weight gain and obesity(15)(16)(17). The syndrome affects over 5% of women population or 1 in 20 women[1].

According to studies, women with PCOs after the reproductive age, are associated to continuously increase the risk of type II diabetes, with no increasing altered glucose tolerance(20), CVD and hypertension(21)[1].

Women with PCOs may experience some of the symptoms of irregular, oligomenorrhea or absent menstrual periods, male pattern hair growth, acne, weight gain, obstructive sleep apnea, closure of the upper airway, causing stop breathing while sleeping, difficult to conceive, anxiety, emotional disturbance, poor quality of life, menstrual cycle disturbances, depression, autonomic dysfunction, problematic eating and general psychosocial dysfunction.

Aloe Vera is species of succulent plant in the genus Aloe, belongings to the Family Xanthorrhoeaceae, native to Sudan.

The herb is most commercial cultivated due to its health benefits.

Aloe vera has been used in herbal medicine in treating many kinds of disease, including wound, burn healing, minor skin infections, sebaceous cysts, diabetes,...... and elevated of cholesterol, The herb also is one of many popular herbs studied in scientific ways with some conflicting results.

According to the study by Desai BN, Maharjan RH, Nampoothiri LP. 70% of PCOS women have abnormal serum lipid levels (dyslipidemia) and 50% of these women are obese.

Several classes of pharmacological agents have been used to manage dyslipidemia with serious adverse effects.

The ten main areas of chemical constituents of Aloe vera include amino acids, anthraquinones, enzymes, minerals, vitamins, lignins, monosaccharide, polysaccharides, salicylic acid, saponins, and sterols.

They all work together in a synergistic way to create healing and health-giving benefits, according to Gertrude Baldwin in the article of THE BENEFITS OF THE USE OF ALOE VERA IN HERBAL PREPARATIONS.

Application aloe vera in Charles Foster female rats induced PCOs by oral administration of non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor letrozole (0.5 mg/kg body weight, 21 days) exerts significant reductions of plasma triglyceride and LDL cholesterol levels and an increase of HDL cholesterol by restoring the ovarian steroid status.

The Aloe vera gel treatment also caused reversion of abnormal estrous cyclicity, glucose intolerance, and lipid metabolizing enzyme activities.

Another study also indicated that Aloe vera gel formulation exerts a protective effect in against the PCOS phenotype by altering key steroidogenic activity. These results are attributed to phyto-components in the gel.

Dr.Pérez YY and the research team in the study of Effect of a polyphenol-rich extract from Aloe vera gel on experimentally induced insulin resistance in mice, said, " the polyphenol-rich extract from Aloe vera. decrease significantly both body weight (p < 0.008) and blood glucose levels, calculated using the homeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR)".

Also in the confirmation of above result, the study of Aloe vera leaves on blood glucose level in type I and type II diabetic rat models, vera leaf pulp extract suggested hypoglycemic activity on IDDM and NIDDM rats, the effect being enhanced for type II diabetes in comparison with glibenclamide.

Taken together, aloe vera can be used as a secondary and therapeutic treatment in ameliorated all aspects of symptom, progression, and treatment of the polycystic ovarian syndrome.

However, further data collection performed with human consumption during the course of the investigation is necessary to complete the picture of Aloe Vera, protective effect against polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOs) possibilities.
