In a randomized, double-blind, vehicle-controlled trial involved 502 male and female patients aged 18 years and older, with 2-30 anogenital warts ranging from 12 to 600 mm(2) total wart area with topical application of sinecatechins ointment 15% or 10%, three times daily for a maximum of 16 weeks or until complete clearance of all warts or placebo, group treated with sinecatechins ointment at the end showed partial clearance rates of at least of 78.4% and 74.0% compared with 51.5% in placebo, in the week 4 and 6.


The study also found that the sinecatechins ointment group also reduced the recurrence rate of 6.5% to 8.3%, developed new warts in compared 8.8% in the placebo group.

Furthermore, the application of Sinecatechins ointment with 10% and 15% green tea extract showed a well-tolerated mild or moderate adverse effect in all patients.



Truly, there is no doubt that the green tea process a potential value for the treatment of external genital warts (EGWs) through the efficacy of phytochemical catechin in induced apoptosis of micro bacterial expression.
