Banana may have a potential effect in protecting the gastrointestinal tract against the formation of gastric ulcers, some scientists suggested.

According to the ulcer index, TNF-α and IL-1β were observed in normal (NR)-AA rat given the acetic acid (AA) compared to the NR-normal rats group.. the expression of proinflammatory presentation suggested that acetic acid (AA) has caused gastric damage.

Paradisiaca (MSE, 100 mg/kg) in normal and non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) rats. NIDDM was induced by administering streptozotocin (STZ, 70 mg/kg, ip) to 5 days old rat pups also found that

* The effects of MSE were effective compared with the known ulcer protective drug, sucralfate (SFT, 500 mg/kg) and anti-diabetic drug glibenclamide (GLC, 0.6 mg/kg) when administered orally, once daily for 6 days against gastric ulcers (GU).

* The MSE extracts to reverse the changes in gastric mucosal glycoproteins, cell proliferation, free radicals (lipid peroxidation and nitric oxide) and anti-oxidants enzymes (superoxide dismutase and catalase) and glutathione (GSH) levels induced by administering streptozotocin.

* MSE showed better ulcer protective effect in NIDDM rats compared with SFT and GLC in CRS-induced GU

* The extracts restore the levels of the gastric mucosal glycoprotein which was reduced in the NIDDM rats without having any effect on cell proliferation.

* MSE pretreatment showed a reversal in the levels of all the parameters better than GLC.caused by the injection of streptozotocin.

Final differentiation discovered that the efficacy of MSE in the inhibition of gastric ulcers was attributed to the predominant effect on the mucosal glycoprotein, cell proliferation, free radicals, and antioxidant systems.
