Pyelonephritis is a kidney infection caused by a bacterium or virus.

The finding the natural ingredients for improvement of Pyelonephritis without induced adverse effects is considered as a dream of many scientist. Unfortunately, many compounds found effective in initial studying failed to confirm the potential in large sample size and multi center. Some even produce conflicted results in second and further studies.

Recent studies reported by some renowned institutions suggested that  Sweet Potato(Vitamin E), Tomato(Vitamin A)  may process a potential effect as a therapeutic ingredients for reduced risk and treatment of Pyelonephritis. According to Arak University of Medical Sciences, vitamin E for the treatment of girls with acute pyelonephritis. ameliorated significant sign and symptoms of UTI in a randomized 14-days study(1).

Vitamins A and E alone or in combination with NSAIDs in animal model, significantly reduced the inflammation associated with ascending pyelonephritis(2).
Furthermore, the vitamins(A and E) also ameliorated risk renal scarring in patients in acute  pyelonephritis(3)(4)(5).

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) or ginger root is the genus Zingiber, belongings to the family Zingiberaceae, native to Tamil. According to Dr. Nassan MA and Dr. Mohamed EH, crude aqueous extracts, including ginger can be usde as natural antimicrobials for treatment of acute hematogenous pyelonephritis in animal study(6), through modulating immune and anti microbial effects.

This discover of the effectiveness of Sweet Potato, Tomato and Ginger  may serve as cornerstones of pharmaceutical target for further studies in production of a potential medication for reduced risk and treatment of Pyelonephritiswith little or no adverse effects.

People who are at high risk of  Pyelonephritis due to family history, obesity,..... should drink at least one serving daily and people with Pyelonephritis should drink the smoothie as much as they can, depending to digestive toleration.
