The smoothie for prevention and treatment of Lysosomal Acid Lipase Deficiency (LALD)
Yield: 2 servings (about 8 ounces each)
3/4 cup black bean
3/4 cup apple
1 cup organic pomegranate juice

1. Place all ingredients in a blender and puree about 1 minute
2. Blend on high speed about 1 minute or until the mixture is thick and the ice is well crushed.
3. Serve immediately

The finding of a natural source for treatment of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy has been running into many obstacles, many ingredients showed initially with promising result in animal studies have not produced same potentials in large sample size and mutli centers human trials.

Lysosomal Acid Lipase Deficiency (LALD) is a medical condition of metabolic storage disease of abnormal function of lysosomal Acid Lipase (LAL) enzyme in breakdown of certain lipids (fats) during pregnancy, leading to the accumulation of cholesteryl esters (CE) and triglycerides (TG) in lysosomes in some tissues.

Recent studies back by well known institutions proposed, kidney beans, apples, pears, barley and prunes with high amount of soluble fiber may be the next generation of natural ingredients for prevention and treatment of Lysosomal Acid Lipase Deficiency (LALD) through reduce the absorption of cholesterol into your bloodstream. According to NIH low cholesterol diet may benefit patients with Lysosomal Acid Lipase Deficiency (LALD)(1)

Black bean, an excellent dietary selection with no cholesterol, but a good source of protein and minerals is mall roughly ovoid legume with glossy black shells, genus Phaseolus, belongings to the family Fabaceae. According to the joint study led by the Escuela de Biotecnología y Alimentos, Tecnológico de Monterrey, intake of black bean regularly may decrease hepatic lipogenesis and stimulatecholesterol excretion, in part, via bile acid synthesis(1), due to existence of its phytochemicals flavonoids and saponins(2).
Dr. Chávez-Santoscoy RA and professors at the Tecnológico de Monterrey-Campus Monterrey said,, in dose-dependent manner, "the content of flavonoids and saponins in black bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) seed coats extracts with a potential effect in loweringcholesterol absorption by the inhibition of cholesterol micellar solubility"(3).
Furthermore, phytosterols isolated from black bean, inhibited cholesterol micellar solubility and reduced the activation of the liver X receptor involved cholesterol metabolism, decreasing hepatic FAS expression and promoting hepatic β-oxidation of long-chain fatty acids metabolism(4).

Apple, one of the most widely cultivated tree fruits. is the pomaceous fruit of the apple tree, a species of the rose family Rosaceae, native to Central Asia. According to the joint study led by the Dalhousie University, apple ignificantly improved blood lipid profiles in rats with diet-induced hyperlipidemia and LPS-induced acute inflammation when used conjunction with n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid-rich fish oil(5).
Dr. Bouazza A and colleagues in the study of Vinegar antioxidant effect suggested, apple [Malus domestica Borkh. (Rosaceae)] vinegars expressed significantly reduction of cholesterol in high-fat diet (HFD)-induced hyperlipidemic Wistar rats(6), probably through its anti oxidative stress scavenging effects, in inhibition of lipid peroxidation, and increased the levels of antioxidant enzymes and vitamin(7).

Pomegranates is a fruit-bearing small tree, genus Punica, belongings to family Lythraceae, native to Iran cultivated in Asian since ancient time. its pomegranate vinegar is found to exhibit a very significant (reduction in lipid profile level(6)
According to the Shaanxi Normal University, pomegranates ellagic acid (PEA) promoted cholesterol removal by enhancing fecal bile acid and up-regulation of the two pathways, LXR/PPAR-ABCA1(7).
Pomegranate juice antioxidant and hypocholesterolemic effects may also benefits patients with cardiovascular disease in reduced side effect of intake of statin(9).

The effectiveness of Black bean, Pomegranate, and Apple  may serve as cornerstones of pharmaceutical target for further studies in production of a potential medication for reduced complications and treatment of . Lysosomal Acid Lipase Deficiency (LALD) with little or no adverse effects.

People who are at high risk of Lysosomal Acid Lipase Deficiency (LALD) due to family history .... should drink at least one serving daily and people with Lysosomal Acid Lipase Deficiency (LALD)should drink the smoothie as much as they can, depending to digestive toleration.
Life style and dietary patter change are recommended.
