Protein - Is Soy an Excellent Source of Protein for Health and Weight Loss Programs?

How much protein does your body need on a daily basis? There is no one size fits all answer. The Institute of Medicine recommends that adults get a minimum of 0.8 grams of protein for every kilogram of body weight per day. That is approximately 64 grams of protein for an adult that weighs 160 pounds.

The human body needs approximately 20 different amino acids in order to synthesize proteins. The human body makes more than half of these amino acids on its own, while the remaining amino acids are not and cannot be produced by the body on its own, so they need to be supplied by eating foods that contain them.
