Diabetic renal inflammation is a condition associated with inflammation in the development of diabetic nephropathy.
Diabetic nephropathy (Dn) is a chronic kidney disease in diabetics, a leading cause of end-stage renal failure.
Epidemiologically, diabetic nephropathy is also associated with cardiovascular disease and increases mortality of diabetic patients.
Metabolic and hemodynamic alterations, oxidative stress, and activation of the renin-angiotensin system are some of the risk factors that have been found in patients with Dn.
Inflammation is a natural defense of the immune system that protects the body against the insult from the foreign invasion.
Acute inflammation occurs quickly or within the hours and lasts a few days or weeks and the damage tissues are healed itself after all pathogens are killed off.
However, if the immune system can not completely destroy all invaders in the acute phase of infection, it will compromise, leading to chronic low-grade inflammation, a major cause of cardiovascular disease, arthritis, and diabetes.
In diabetes, the presence of chronic low-grade inflammation activated by the innate immune system induced production of pro-Inflammatory cytokines, mainly IL-1, IL-6, and IL-18, as well as TNF-α, are some of the major factors that involved in the development and progression of diabetic nephropathy.
Dr. Juan F. Navarro-González, the lead scientist in the examined the effect of inflammatory cytokines in the risk of Dn wrote, "When considering the role of cytokines in pathophysiological processes underlying disease, it is necessary to take into account the fact that the activities of these molecules are very complex, as reflected by important features, including their pleiotropic actions—and thus a cytokine may trigger several different cellular responses depending on diverse factors, such as cell type, timing, and context".
And, "Cytokines share receptor subunits; act synergistically in many contexts, and, therefore, the association of two cytokines can markedly amplify their effects; cytokines stimulate the cells that produce them, or adjacent cells, or even can intervene through direct cell-cell interaction; and, finally, cytokines induce the expression of other cytokines and cytokine receptors".
In other words, diabetic renal inflammation is the main culprit that causes the development of Dn.
Turmeric is a perennial plant in the genus Curcuma, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, native to tropical South Asia.
The herb has been used in traditional medicine as anti-oxidant, hypoglycemic, colorant, antiseptic, wound healing agent, and for the treatment of flatulence, bloating, and appetite loss, ulcers, eczema, inflammations, etc.
With an aim to find a potential compound for the treatment of renal inflammation, researchers examined the effect of Curcumolide, a novel sesquiterpenoid isolated from Curcuma wenyujin for the control of diabetic retinopathy.
According to the experiment results, treatment with curcumolide alleviated retinal inflammatory activities both in vitro and in vivo in an STZ-induced diabetic rat model and in TNF-α-stimulated HUVECs.
Furthermore, curcumolide alleviated retinal vascular permeability by blocking the quality of a material or membrane that causes it to allow liquids or gases to pass through it, and leukostasis that causes elevated blast cell count and symptoms of decreased tissue perfusion in the retinas.
Moreover, curcumolide attenuated the overexpression of TNF-α and ICAM-1associaed with the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines in diabetic retinas through activation of NF-κB is a protein complex and p38 MAPK.
Based on the findings, researchers wrote, "These data suggest potential treatment strategies against diabetic retinopathy, particularly in the early stages of the disease".
Taken altogether, turmeric processed abundantly bioactive compound curcumolide may be considered supplements for the prevention and treatment of renal inflammation, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.
Intake of turmeric in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Phytochemical Alliin Inhibits the Onset of High Blood Pressure
High blood pressure, a condition characterized by elevated blood pressure in the arteries. Blood pressure is the force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps out blood.
In other words, the heart has to work harder to circulate blood to the body needs in high blood pressure patients. Long-term d elevate blood pressure raises the pressure of the heart, leading to damage to the heart tissue in facilitating the risk of cardiovascular disease.
According to the statistics provided by the CDC, approximately 54% of adults in the US are living with high blood pressure and half of that have an uncontrol condition.
Believe it or not, in the US, high blood pressure is a major cause of heart disease and stroke and a leading cause of death.
Many factors have been found to increase the risk of high blood pressure, including, tobacco or excessive alcohol drinking, chronic medical conditions such as kidney disease, diabetes and sleep apnea.
Some researchers suggested that the promotion of the Western diet with high consumption of salt may have a strong effect on increasing the prevalence of high blood pressure over the past few decades.
Dr. the lead scientist wrote, "Over the past century, salt has been the subject of intense scientific research related to blood pressure elevation and cardiovascular mortalities".
And, "The World Health Organization (WHO) strongly recommended reducing dietary salt intake as one of the top priority actions to tackle the global non-communicable disease crisis and has urged member nations to take action to reduce population-wide dietary salt intake to decrease the number of deaths from hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and stroke".
In other words, by following a healthy diet and moderate exercise, high blood pressure is preventable.
Alliin (S-allyl-L-cysteine-S-oxide) is a phytochemical compound sulfoxide,. a derivative of the amino acid cysteine, belonging to the class of sulfur compounds, found abundantly in fresh garlic and onion.
On finding a natural compound for the treatment of hypertension, researchers examined the effect of Lichtwer garlic powder (containing 1.3% alliin equivalent to 0.6% allicin)on blood pressure.
The study included rats fed either by a 2% high cholesterol diet with and without aqueous garlic powder extract given orally to rats on a daily basis for 6 weeks or control rats fed a normal diet.
Compared to elevated levels of cholesterol in the rat fed with cholesterol diet without garlic extract, rats fed with a high cholesterol diet mixed with garlic powder showed a significant reduction in their serum cholesterol levels.
The high blood pressure of rats induced by cholesterol diet was also inhibited by garlic powder.
In other words, the blood pressure of the animals receiving garlic powder and high cholesterol diet was significantly lower as compared to other groups without affecting levels of glucose and protein.
Based on the results, researchers after taking other factors into account wrote, " garlic is beneficial in reducing...systolic blood pressure in hypercholesterolemic rats".
And, "Our experimental results show that garlic may beneficially affect two risk factors for... and hypertension".
Moreover, the Tel Aviv University study in the comparison of the effects of a new stable synthetic compound produced by a chemical reaction between allicin and the angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor captopril and alliin and captopril suggested CPSSA in high dose significantly decreased blood pressure, triglycerides, and homocysteine concentrations compared to alliin with a slight effect on SBP and Captopril (50mg/(kg day)) only improved blood pressure and homocysteine.
More precisely, Dr. Oron-Herman M, the lead scientist wrote, " the combined molecule CPSSA integrates the anti-hypertensive, lipid-lowering, and homocysteine-reducing effects of both allicin and captopril, making it a potential cardiovascular protective agent".
Taken altogether, alliin may be considered supplements for the prevention and treatment of hypertension, pending on the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.
Intake of alliin in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Herbal Ashwagandha, the Anti-Insulin Resistance Remedy
Insulin resistance is a hallmark of type 2 diabetes caused by the inability of the body to use insulin properly to convert glucose to energy in the muscles, body fat, intestine, and liver.
According to the statistics, over 100 million Americans are living with insulin resistance. Approximately 1 in 3, including half of those age 60 and older have a silent blood sugar problem known as insulin resistance.
Insulin resistance is not caused by a single factor. The increase in age, ethnicity, overweight or obese, too much belly fat, physical inactivity, smoking and certain medical conditions such as Cushing’s disease or polycystic ovary disease are some of the prevalent factors found in patients with the condition.
Epidemiologically, over time, insulin resistance associated with a genetic preposition can reduce the function of the beta cells in the pancreas, leading to the onset of prediabetes and diabetes.
Unmanaged insulin resistance has been found to induce polyuria, polydipsia, polyphagia, and weight loss associated with hyperglycemia, particularly in patients with hypertension.
Conventionally, there is no effective treatment for insulin resistance. However, a change of diets such as low-carbohydrate and ketogenic diets or very-low-calorie diet and regular physical activity patients to prevent the risk of obesity may reduce the effects of insulin resistance.
Ashwagandha also is known as Withania somnifera is a nightshade plant in the genus of Withania, belonging to the family Solanaceae, native to the dry parts of India, North Africa, Middle East, and the Mediterranean.
The herbal medicine has been considered as Indian ginseng and used in Ayurvedic medicine over 3000 years to treat tumors and tubercular glands, carbuncles, memory loss, and ulcers and considered as anti-stress, cognition-facilitating, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging herbal medicine.
On finding a potent compound for the treatment of hyperglycemia, researchers examined the effects of Withania somnifera root (WS) on insulin resistance in an animal model.
Selected 48 Wistar-Albino male rats in the study were randomly divided into four groups (n=12); Group I as control, Group II as sham-treated with WS by 62.5mg/g per diet, Group III fructose-fed rats received 10%W/V fructose, and Group IV fructose- and WS-fed rats.
According to the analysis of blood samples collected at the end of the experiment, group III showed a significant increase in the levels of blood glucose, insulin, homeostasis associated with insulin resistance compared to controls.
Furthermore, levels of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6, and TNF-α levels in blood serum of group III fed by fructose were also increased compared to control.
Expression of TNF-α and IL-6, levels induced inflammation have been found to cause insulin resistance by affecting glucose uptake, epidemiologically.
However, Treatment with WS in group rats fed with fructose demonstrated significant inhibition of increases in glucose, insulin, HOMA-R, IL-6, and TNF-α, the parameters associated with insulin resistance.
Taken altogether, Ashwagandha may be considered a functional herb for the prevention and treatment of insulin resistance, pending to the confirmation of larger sample size and multicenter study.

Yoga Intervention Improved Cardiovascular Endurance, Inflammatory Markers, Flexibility and Quality of Life of Heart Failure Patients
Yoga may be considered as an integrated form of exercise in improved cardiovascular endurance, inflammatory expression, flexibility and quality of life of heart failure patients, some scientists postulated.
Heart failure is a medical condition characterized by insufficiently to maintain blood flow to meet the body's needs, inducing symptoms of shortness of breath, excessive tiredness, and leg swelling.....
Yoga, the ancient technique practice for harmonized external and internal body well beings, through breath control, meditation, bodily movement, and gesture..... has been best known for people in the Western world and some parts in Asia due to health benefits reported by various respectable institutes' research and supported by health advocates.
In a study of 130 heart failure patients recruited, 65 patients randomly selected to receive 12-week yoga therapy along with standard medical therapy (yoga group). Other patients (n=65) received only standard medical therapy (control group), researchers showed that
* Yoga group expressed an enormous improvement in a decrease in heart rate, blood pressure and rate pressure product (RPP), compared to control group
* All heart rate ratio and variability were improved in compared to control
Dr. Krishna BH, the lead author said, "Twelve-week yoga therapy significantly improved the parasympathetic activity and decreased the sympathetic activity in heart failure patients."
Truly, yoga mindfulness induced relaxation of the central nervous system in the inhibited production of stress hormone in facilitated production of inflammatory makers through interaction between immune cells-particularly macrophages and lymphocytes, one of a number of markers involved in heart failure disease progression.
Chronic psychological stress is found to have a strong negative influence in heart failure patients as the result of losing the ability to regulate the inflammatory response.
Also, yoga slow breathing and meditation-induced relaxation the central nervous system in stimulated production of nitric oxide NO through expression of nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) in relaxed the vessel muscles and heart muscles in regulation dilation and reduced stress hormone in overproduction of prostaglandins E2 in activated muscle constriction, plus improving in heart rate, blood pressure and rate pressure product (RPP).
Furthermore, yoga selected postures were found not only to improve flexibility but also enhance the functioning lung in optimized oxygen demand of the heart through a circulatory system controlled by homeostatic mechanisms without inducing work overload to the heart, thus increasing peak exercise capacity (peakVO2) in patients with heart failure.
These results suggested that yoga intervention exerted a significant effect of improved cardiovascular endurance in all aspects.
Moreover, yoga mindfulness reconnected and re-balanced the mind and body by bringing back the presence while dealing with a profound and effective way that leads to actively engage in healthy diet and change of lifestyle in participated improvement in functional capacity.
These findings suggested that yoga, as an integrated exercise has a direct impact in enhancing health and quality of life in patients with heart failure.
The result of above was supported by the randomized controlled trials, in the review of the literature published on MEDLINE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Excerpta Medica database, LILACS, Physiotherapy Evidence Database, together with the Scientific Electronic Library Online, and Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health up to December 2013.
According to the study, compared to control, researchers indicated that
* Yoga group displayed a significant and positive impact on peak exercise capacity (peakVO2) and quality-of-life (HRQOL)
*Yoga participants also showed an improvement of Weighted mean differences (WMD) (some of the studies make a greater contribution to the average than others and global HRQOL standardized mean differences).
In clarification of the efficacy in treatment for CHF, Dr. Gomes-Neto M, the lead author said, "Yoga enhances peak VO2 and HRQOL in patients with CHF and could be considered for inclusion in cardiac rehabilitation programs".
And, the study of 40 patients (38 AA, 1 Asian, and 1 Caucasian) with systolic or diastolic HF randomized to the yoga group (YG, n = 21) or the control group (CG, n = 19) with all patients followed a home walk program, suggested that yoga group demonstrated a significant improvement of all tested aspects, such as for flexibility (P = 0.012), treadmill time (P = 0.002), VO2peak (P = 0.003), and the biomarkers (IL-6, P = 0.004; CRP, P = 0.016; and EC-SOD, P = 0.012) in compared to control
Taking all together, Yoga therapy may offer additional benefits to the standard medical care to patients with HF by improving cardiovascular endurance, inflammatory markers, flexibility and quality of life.

Healthy Food Cabbage Processes the Best Anti Hyperlipidemic Activity
Hyperlipidemia is a chronic condition caused by abnormally high lipid accumulation in the bloodstream, including high blood cholesterol and fat.
Hyperlipidemia is a condition in the cluster of metabolic syndrome associated with the risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
Cholesterol produced by the liver or dietary fat intake at a moderate amount plays an essential role to produce steroid hormone and vitamin D, build strong cell membranes and aid the digestive system in absorbing nutrients and fluids.
According to the statistics provided by the CDC, in 2015–2016, more than 12% of adults age 20 and older had total cholesterol higher than 240 mg/dL, and more than 18% had high-density lipoprotein (HDL, or “good”) cholesterol levels less than 40 mg/dL in the US.
However, overexpression of cholesterol in the blood has been found to induce the forming arterial plaques, leading to an increased risk of heart disease and stroke.
There are 2 types of blood cholesterol
* The high-density lipoprotein is also known as "good cholesterol" that return cholesterol to the liver for future use
* The low-density lipoprotein is also known as "bad" cholesterol processed a function aforementioned health benefits in moderate amount.
The healthy ratio of total blood cholesterol ("bad"/ "good") is any numbers that are less than 4.
Patients with hyperlipidemia are assymptomatic. However, over time hyperlipidemia can cause plaque accumulated on the arterial wall, leading to the narrowing arteries and hardening arterial walls in orchestrating the onset of atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease.
Hyperlipidemia is treatable. By a change of diet and daily moderate exercise, you may control the condition without medication.
Cabbage is a species of Brassica oleracea belong to the family Brassicaceae (or Cruciferae), native to the Mediterranean region along the seacoast. It has a short stem of which is crowded a mass of leaves, usually green but in some varieties, it may be red or purplish.
With an aim to find a potent compound for the treatment of high blood cholesterol, researchers examined the hypolipidemic effects of the methanol extract of Brassica oleracea var. capitata (MEB, cabbage) in an animal model.
The study included 28 healthy white rabbits of either sex induced hyperlipidemia equally divided into four groups with treated and standard groups that were administered MEB (500 mg·kg(-1)) and glibenclamide (10 mg·kg(-1)), respectively for 15 and 30 days.
Additionally, the animals of the normal and diabetic controls also received normal saline 1 mL/day equivalent to the volume of doses given to the test and standard animals.
According to the tested assays
* MEB also decreased in total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein by 94.3 and 96.5 mg·dL(-1), respectively, and increased the levels of high-density lipoprotein (HLD) by 26.7 mg·dL(-1) compared to diabetic control.
* After taking other factors into account, researchers suggested that all of the changes in lipid profile were statistically significant.comapred to control.
These results strongly suggested that the methanol extract from collard greens processes a hypolipidemic effect in a diabetes animal model.
Dr. Assad T, the lead scientist said, "These results suggest the potential of MEB as a...hypolipidemic agent".
Taken altogether, collard green may be considered supplements for the prevention and treatment of hyperlipidemia, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Yoga Mindfulness and Postures Enhanced Pregnancy
Yoga may be considered as an integrated form of exercise in enhanced pregnancy, some scientists suggested
Yoga, the ancient technique practice for harmonized external and internal body well beings, through breath control, meditation, bodily movement, and gesture..... has been best known for people in the Western world and some parts in Asia due to health benefits reported by various respectable institutes' research and supported by health advocates.
Pregnancy (gestation) is the period of time, from conception to delivery in which one or more offspring develop inside the mother's womb.
In Women
According to the West Medford, in women with infertility, yoga therapy not only exhibited a strong effect on clarity of the mind, maintain healthy body chemistry, but also provided patients the patience to undergo the rigors of infertility treatments.
Continuously, once patients feel better about themselves after attaining physical relaxation, yoga therapy can lead the patient to treat their body with more respect, inducing healthier lifestyle habits as well as increased sensitivity regarding symptoms and body processes.
In Men
According to the study of Vidyasagar College for Women, regular yoga practice in male showed a significant improvement in enhanced the reproductive health for a successful pregnancy, through reduced stress and anxiety, improved autonomic functions by triggering neurohormonal mechanisms by the suppression of sympathetic activity.
Dr. Sengupta P, the led author said, "several reports suggested regular yoga practice from childhood is beneficial for reproductive health" and "...... the effectiveness of yoga practice to have better reproductive health and to prevent infertility".
Truly, yoga intervention with meditation and relaxation connected and balanced the mind and body in bring back the presence of unexplained causes of infertility in the induction of stress by dealing them in positive ways.
In Men
These results not only reduce stress in the stimulated central nervous system in the induction of hormone imbalance through overproduction of stress hormones but also improved
* The hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal axis (HPA axis or HTPA axis), a complex set of direct influences and feedback interactions among three components with special function in control production of quality of sperm, including sperm count or motility.
* Prostate gland in production of semen with the function of protecting sperm and prolong their life after deposited in the acidic environment of the vagina.
* Restoration of the natural behavior of adult in their reductive years, such as sexual desire and production of offspring.
Furthermore, Yoga mindfulness in calming the central nervous system accompanied by yoga posture also enhanced blood circulation to the pelvic region, thus reducing the stress in induction erectile dysfunction.
In Women
These results not only reduced stress hormones in induction of hormone imbalance through overproduction of stress hormones, in restoring the natural behavior of women in their reproductive years, thus
* Promoting natural urge of offspring production through the production of testosterone in stimulated sexual desire
* Normalizing every stage of the menstrual cycle, including an increase in the luteinizing hormone (LH) level in the initiated mature follicle to burst and release of healthy egg in the ovulation phase
* Together with yoga postures and dealing the stress in profound way also improved blood flow to the pelvic region in optimized the chance of pregnancy.
Some researchers suggested that the postures may also help to release tight musculature andbreak down any scar tissue in the hip and pelvic region in both men and women.
The above simple illustrations were supported by the Immanuel Hospital Berlin, in the study of a case of 38-year-old woman with unknown causes of infertility, after unsuccessfully to get pregnant in 18 conventional fertility treatments in 5 different fertility centers and 3 different countries treated with Ayurvedic outpatient clinic.
According to the experiment, yoga combined with other techniques such as botanicals, dietary and lifestyle advice, manual therapy, and spiritual elements expressed a significant improvement in the state of fertility. and continuous treatment-induced pregnant and gave birth to a healthy boy in 2012.
Dr. Kessler C, the led author said, "Ayurveda may be a useful complementary option in the case of futile conventional treatment attempts in female infertility" and "Nevertheless, the evidence base for Ayurvedic interventions remains weak and requires well-designed clinical trials".
Taking all together, yoga therapy may be considered as an integrated form of exercise in improved the reproductive health of both gender for a successful pregnancy, including couple can not afford the high cost in conventionally various assisted reproductive technologies.

Yoga Intervention In Prevented Risks and Complications in Pregnancy
According to the published literature on PubMed, yoga, a home base exercise may have a positive and profound effect for a healthy and outcome in pregnancy.
Yoga, the ancient practice for harmonized external and internal body well beings, through breath control, meditation, bodily movement, and gesture..... has been best known for people in the Western world and some parts in Asia due to health benefits reported by various respectable institutes' research and supported by health advocates.
In the study to ascertain the opinions, practices and knowledge about exercise, including yoga, during pregnancy, researchers after carefully examine the returned surveys, researchers indicated that exercise during pregnancy is considered as a most beneficial, particular pregnancy but 83% felt it was beneficial to start prior to pregnancy and yoga is considered as one of the home base exercises with progressive results.
Interestingly, observation based on BMI, also expressed that the rate of attending yoga lessons was substantially higher in non-obese of 65% in compared to obese subjects.
Most women taking yoga therapy believed it is beneficial, and 40% of this group had attempted yoga before pregnancy.
Truly, yoga relaxation and meditation reduced the maternal stress by balanced and connected the mind and body, thus
* reducing risk of vessel tension or maternal hypertension through nitric oxide, is released by endothelial cells and inhibited the production of vessel dilation hormones such as norepinephrine and epinephrine with overexpression of numbers of beta-2 receptors.
* Bring back the presence by letting go of event causing stress or dealing the stress in the profound way. These results increased the natural state of awareness of motherhood with love and care to the baby in a change of lifestyle and healthy eating which may have a strong impact in the stimulated the gastrointestinal function in the absorbed nutrients, together with oxygen in the blood to provide the normal growth and health of the baby. The orchestration of the mother facilitated a significant impact in decreasing many complications, including preeclampsia, gestational diabetes (GDM) and intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), preterm birth,.....
Additionally, yoga by relaxed the central nervous system through reduced stress may also decrease the production of prostaglandins in initiated uterus muscle contraction in contributed embryonic and fetal expulsion.
Yoga intervention also improved the immune response in the ameliorated risk of intrauterine and uterus infection through stimulated production of antioxidants produced by the body and food intake in fighting against bacterial and viral invasion passing through the vagina and the cervix, the amniotic cavity to the fetus.
The activation of immune activities also protected the baby during the acute phase of infection by regulating the production of anti-inflammatory cytokines and pro-inflammatory cytokines in ameliorated symptoms of inflammation without affecting the function of the immune function in the protection of the body against foreign invasion in the infectious site.
Some researchers suggested that yoga intervention reduced stress also have a profound effect in inhibited nervous system sympathetically in production of hormone catecholamines to induce cytotoxic free radicals formation through induction of overproduction for antioxidants from healthy food sources and natural antioxidants from the body.
By review the information, it is safe to suggest that yoga practice may be beneficial physically and psychologically to both mother and the baby.
These results were supported by the review of literature published on 4 databases between January 2004 to February 2014 which indicated that yoga intervention demonstrated lower incidences of prenatal disorders (p ≤ 0.05), and small gestational age (p < 0.05), lower levels of pain and stress (p < 0.05), and higher score of relationship (p < 0.05), particularly in women with high-risk of depression or experienced lumbopelvic pain.
Dr. Jiang Q, the led author said, "yoga is a safe and more effective intervention during pregnancy".
And the Eastern Virginia Medical School in a study to evaluate the peripartum outcomes of yoga during pregnancy, including the postpartum period and lactationm based on review literature on PubMed database from January 1970 to January 2011, suggestion of yoga displayed a significant reduction in rates of preterm labor, intrauterine growth retardation, low birth weight, pregnancy discomforts, and perceived sleep disturbances and practicing yoga during pregnancy can significantly lower pain and discomfort perceived stress and improved quality of life in physical domains.
Taking together, compared to other forms of therapy, yoga may be one of the safe and most effective in prevented risks, complications and enhanced birth outcome in pregnancy.

Cucurbitacin B (CuB) Isolated from Cucumbers (Cucumis sativus), a Natural Antiangiogenic and Antimetastatic Potential Bioactve Compound
Metastasis is a process in which cancer cells travel a distance away from the originated site to induce secondary malignant growths.
Anti-metastasis is an action in which substance or substances are used including herbal medicine to stop the cancer cell to infect other healthy tissues a distance away from the primary tumor.
Most cancer drugs used in conventional medicine with the ability to block the migration of cancer cells are considered process antimetastatic activity.
In other words, anti-metastasis drugs are agents that interfere with all modes of cancer cell migration, compared to conventional cytostatic drugs involved in blocking cancer cell proliferation.
Angiogenesis is the process by stimulating the growth of new blood vessels from preexisting blood vessels used by the tumor to obtain nutrient in facilitating cancer proliferation.
Anti-angiogenic activity is an action in which substances such as drugs and herbal medicine are used to stop tumors from growing their own blood vessels.
Conventionally, medicines that block the block vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) from attaching to the receptors on the cells that line the blood vessels. such as bevacizumab (Avastin). Bevacizumab is considered anti-angiogenic drugs.
Believe it or not, as of today, there is no anti-metastatic drug on the market, even over 90 percent of cancer deaths today are due to metastasis formation. Dr. Stock AM, the lead scientist in the examined the targets for anti-metastatic drug development, wrote, "Tumor cell migration is the essential prerequisite for invasion and metastasis formation. It is regulated by signal substances in terms of the grade of activity and in terms of direction (chemotaxis)".
And, "Moreover we provide with the example of beta-blockers, how established drugs in other indications are possibly effective and can be co-opted as such anti-metastatic".
The cucumber plant is a species of Cucumis Sativus, belongs to the family Cucurbitaceae and native to Western Asia. It is a creeping vine with roots in the ground and grows up with the support of frames.
Scientists in the urgency to find the natural compound for the treatment of cancer examined the effect of Cucurbitacin B (CuB), a plant triterpenoid found abundantly in cucumber against the metastatic and angiogenic potential of breast cancer cells.
During the experiment, CuB showed significant activity in the inhibition of cellular proliferation and induction of apoptosis in the tested cancer cells in a time- and dose-dependent manner.
Furthermore, at the sub-IC50 concentrations, injection of CuB inhibited the migratory and invasive potential of highly metastatic breast cancer MDA-MB-231 and 4T1 cells.
In HUVECs, administration of CubB also inhibited migratory, invasive and tube-forming capacities.
In chick embryo chorioallantoic membrane, CuB exerted a strong anti-angiogenic effect in the prevention of new blood vessels.
According to the tested assay, the efficacy of Cub antimetastatic and angiogenic properties was attributed to the blocking of the matrix and proteins (VEGF/FAK/MMP-9) in signaling the development of new blood vessels from the existing vessels to induce cancer cells proliferation.
Additionally, the anti-angiogenesis was also evidenced by the decreased protein CD31 associated with more than 90% of angiosarcomas.
Dr. Sinha S, the lead scientists said, "Collectively, our findings suggest that CuB inhibited breast cancer metastasis and angiogenesis, at least in part, through the downregulation of VEGF/FAK/MMP-9 signaling".
In non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) both in vitro and in vivo, at nanomolar concentrations injection of CuB demonstrated a strong anti-migratory and anti-invasive ability against metastatic NSCLC by blocking the migratory, invasive and tube-forming capacities.
The efficacy of the tested compound in this experiment inhibited metastasis and angiogenesis was attributable to the suppression of proteins (Wnt/β-catenin) associated with pass signals into a cell through cell surface receptors to induce cell proliferation and formation of new blood vessels.
Taken altogether, cucumber processed a high amount of CuB may be considered supplements for the prevention and treatment of cancer, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.
Intake of CuB in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Yoga for Treatment of Psychiatric Disorders
Yoga may be used as a secondary exercise alone or combined standard therapy for the treatment of psychiatric disorders, a reviewed study suggested.
Yoga, the ancient technique practice for harmonized external and internal body well beings, through breath control, meditation, bodily movement, and gesture..... has been best known for people in the Western world and some parts in Asia due to health benefits reported by various respectable institutes' research and supported by health advocates.
In a review of the literature published online, including randomized, controlled trials with yoga as the central component of the intervention, researchers showed that 10 out 13 trials chosen indicated a positive effect in use of yoga as an ancillary treatment of in patients with psychiatric disorders.
Also, the review of trials both unpublished and published with no limitation placed on a year of publication before 2000 satisfied the criteria of acceptable quality and relevance from databases of PubMed/MEDLINE, Cochrane Control Trials Register, Google Scholar, and EBSCO, filed the following results with 10 studies were chosen
* After adjusting to other risk factors, the a pooled displayed positive effect size of -3.25
* Yoga participants expressed statistically significant evidence as an adjunct treatment for major psychiatric disorders
* Yoga may be used as an aid in the treatment of disorders for which current treatments are found to be inadequate or to carry severe liabilities.
More importantly, researchers also point outed, "As current psychopharmacologic interventions for severe mental illness are associated with increased risk of weight gain as well as other metabolic side effects that increase patients' risk for cardiovascular disease".
Truly, yoga intervention in restore the balance and mental calmness may have a sustainable effect into tackling psychosomatic problems and psychiatric disorders. However, according to some researchers, it is often difficult to motivate a mental illness person to feel comfortable in doing yoga practices, but with the patience of the caregivers in gently persuaded, as time progressed, most patients might slowly enjoy the exercise and eager to carry on.
According to Dr. H. R. Nagendra, yoga practice may specifically help person with mental illness in several ways, probably as a result of yoga mindfulness and slow breathing in reconnected and rebalanced the mind and body in inducing a state of calmness to the central nervous system in ameliorated the transmitting of faulty chemistry between neurons is facilitated wrongly emotional responses. These results
1. Reduce patient with mental disorder through attenuated emotional agitations in the expression of the unrelated thing, one of the major cause of psychological incompetence.
2. Improve awareness by bringing back the presence and dealing them with the positive ways through increasing the scope of awareness of the surrounding, including connection with other people and paying attention of the reality and moving away from the delusional past, thus increasing acceptance and adaptability to the new change for better recovery.
3. And also promote the sense of security of the mental illness patients, Dr. H. R. Nagendra said," Bhakti yoga or indeed any form of devotion and surrender to a supreme entity or a role model of a person will be of great source of strength to a “recovered” patient (i.e., a person who, through medication, no longer has symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, or bizarre behavior, in general).
The competence of these interventions may induce the reconnected and rebalanced of mental and emotional levels, thus reducing risk mental illness in the expression of wrong things due to enslaved to emotions.
In other words, by reconnected and balanced mental and emotional levels, yoga practice reduced mental diseases in the risk of emotional congelation within an individual in manifest themselves externally, such as anger, jealousy.
The above differentiation was supported by the study in the explored ancient system of Kundalini yoga conduced by the University of California.
According to the research, yoga may be considered as a treatment of psychiatric disorders techniques, due to
* 2 published clinical trials showed a significant effect of Kundalini yoga for treating obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), the fourth most common psychiatric disorder.
*. The OCD protocol provided by Kundalini yoga also reduced anxiety in patients
*. Patients after taking the yoga class also demonstrated in learning to manage fear, tranquilizing an angry mind and turning negative thoughts into positive thoughts.
Dr. Shannahoff-Khalsa DS said, " a number of other disorder-specific meditation techniques are included here to help bring these tools to the attention of the medical and scientific community. (Other than psychiatric disorders) these techniques (also) are specific for phobias, addictive and substance abuse disorders, major depressive disorders, dyslexia, grief, insomnia, and other sleep disorders".
Taking all together, there is sufficient information led to accepting yoga as an ancillary treatment for patients with psychiatric disorders.

Navy Bean Protects the Gut Against the Risk of Colorectal Cancer
Colorectum is the digestive organ containing the colon and the rectum.
The colon formed part of the large intestine plays a critical role in re-absorbing fluids and processing waste products from the body for elimination.
The colon consists of four parts: descending colon, ascending colon, transverse colon, and sigmoid colon
The rectum or the part of the large intestine nearest the rectum plays a temporary storehouse for feces.
Colorectal cancer is a chronic condition characterized by abnormal proliferation of cells in the colon, rectum, or vermiform appendix.
Colorectal cancer is relatively very common and slowly growing cancer in the US. colorectal cancer has also been found to progress in a predictable way.
The disease is more common in people over the age of 50. Regular colonoscopy after age of 50 is valuable to detect the disease in the early stage, thereby increasing the rate of survival.
According to the statistics provided by the American Cancer Society, colorectal cancer, including cancer in the colon or rectum is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death in men and women combined in the United States.
Approximately, in 100 cases of colorectal cancer, 71% of cases arise in the colon compared to 29% in the rectum.
Most common types of colorectal cancer classified depending on the primary originated cells are
* Adenocarcinomas
Most bowel cancers are adenocarcinomas, originated in epithelium tissues, including the surface layer of skin, glands and their tissues that line the cavities and organs of the body.
* Squamous cell cancers
Squamous cells are the skin-like cells that make up the bowel lining together with the gland cells. Squamous cell cancers are rare with the risk of 25 per 100000 population.
The small, white navy bean, also called pea bean or haricot, popular in both dry and green forms, is very popular in Britain and the US, native to Peru. It is now grown and consumed across the world, due to their numerous health benefits.
On finding a potential compound for the prevention and treatment of cancer, researchers examined the effects of consumption of navy beans (NB) and rice bran (RB) on CRC survivors' serum inflammatory biomarkers and telomere lengths.
The study included 29 subjects completed a randomized controlled trial with foods that included cooked NB powder (35 g/day), heat-stabilized RB (30 g/day), or no additional ingredient.
According to the tested analysis,* NB or RB consumed equated to 4-9% of subjects' daily caloric intake. Increased consumption NB or RB showed no effects on major gastrointestinal issues.
* Furthermore, NB or RB consumed increased dietary fiber amounts at Weeks 2 and 4 compared to baseline and to control.
* NB or RB consumed also increased the telomere length correlated with age and HDL cholesterol compared to baseline, accompanied by improving serum amyloid A (SAA) levels at Week 4.
Additonally, in CRC chemoprevention, in the study of the effects on eating SRB (30 g/day) or cooked navy bean powder (35 g/day) on gut microbiota and metabolites on colorectal cancer survivors, Dr. the lead scientist found that SRB or NBP showed increased gut bacterial diversity and altered gut microbial composition at 28 days associated with CRC prevention.
Collectively, these results strongly suggested that NB or RB consumption improve the parameters associated with CRC chemoprevention.
Taken altogether, the fermented navy bean may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of colorectal cancer, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.

Whole Food Tomato Balances the Ratio of Intestinal Microbiomes in the Gut
Intestinal microbiome is the community of bacteria living in the gut. Under normal conditions, the ratio of good and bad microbiomes are balanced.
Believe it or not, our GI-tract harbors one of the most complex and abundant ecosystems colonized by more than 100 trillion microorganisms, including Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes.
The composition and functions of the microbiome also have been found to influence by a number of factors including genetics, diet, age, and medical treatments such as antibiotics.
Epidemiological studies suggested that unbalanced of the ratio of bacterias in the GI tract due to the aforementioned factors also induce changes in microbiome structure, that links to inflammatory, functional and metabolic disorders such as IBD, IBS, and obesity.
Dr. Ana M Valdes, the lead scientist in the examined the health benefits associated with intestinal microbiome suggested that gut microbes have a strong effect on human health including immune, metabolic and neurobehavioral traits.
More precisely, the intestinal microbiomes
* Interact with the immune function against inflammatory immune disorders.
* Reduce the risk of gastrointestinal diseases and non-gastrointestinal diseases caused by overexpression of bad bacteria.
* Increase nutrient absorption from the diet, thus reducing the risk of obesity and obese complications.
* Control brain insulin signaling and metabolite levels against neurobehaviors.
Tomato is red, edible fruit, genus Solanum, belonging to family Solanaceae, native to South America. Because of its health benefits, the tomato is grown worldwide for the commercial purpose
and often in the greenhouse.
With an aim to discover healthy food for the treatment of intestinal microbiome imbalance, researchers investigated the possibility of a dietary-induced switch to the gut microbiota composition.
The study included Winnie mice induced ulcerative colitis by treatment of chow enriched with 1% Bronze tomato.
According to the tested results, Bronze-enriched chow showed no macroscopic effect on the IBD symptoms after 2 weeks of administration. However, injection of bronze tomato exerted a significant effect on the production of anti-inflammatory cytokines and reduced levels of pro-inflammatory production in the same periods in ulcerative colitis mice.
Furthermore, the analysis of the microbial composition suggested that Bronze enriched diet demonstrated a strong effect on the microbial composition of Winnie and control mice by increasing levels of good bacteria in the gut.
According to the chemical analysis, the effect bronze tomato in improving the ratio of intestinal microbiome composition was attributed to the polyphenol-enriched diets in creating unfavorable conditions for bad bacterial species.
Another study conducted by the University of Arkansas at Little Rock to examined the effect of tomato fruits derived from plants exposed to multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on gastrointestinal epithelial barrier integrity and their impact on the human commensal intestinal microbiota, in vitro cell culture and batch human fecal suspension models also suggested that
* At 0.001 μg ml-1 concentration, CNT-containing fruits showed insignificantly activity on the model T-84 human intestinal epithelial cells.
* However, at 10 μg ml-1 concentration, CNTs showed a strong effect in penetrating the cell membrane and change the gene expression profile of exposed tested cells.
Taken altogether, tomato processed multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) may be considered a dietary supplements for balancing the ratio of intestinal microbiota, pending to large sample size and multicenter human study.

Phytochemical Alliin Reduced Metabolic Risk Factors Against Heart Disease, Stroke, and Diabetes in Vivo
Metabolic risk factors are the cluster conditions are associated with an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.
In other words, if you have 3 or more risk factors of too much fat around the waist, elevated blood pressure, high triglycerides, elevated blood sugar, and low HDL cholesterol, you are considered at a higher risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes compared to those who have less.
There is no single cause of metabolic syndrome. However, most cases of MetS are found in overweight and obese patients, particularly in those with insulin resistance, the condition caused by the inability of the body to use insulin properly in converting sugar to energy.
Symptoms are depending on the risk factors which the patients have, such as high blood pressure and cholesterol and glucose.
Other than the aforementioned risk factors, epidemiologically, aging, family history, physical inactivity and women with polycystic ovary syndrome are at a higher risk of the condition onset.
Some researchers suggested the rise of metabolic syndrome in the US over the past few decades may be correlated with the promotion of a high-fat diet in the Western world.
Dr. Wabitsch, M., the lead scientist wrote, "Specific alterations of the Western Diet uniquely drive this process and are unrelated to calories. These alterations include too little fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, and micronutrients, and too many omega-6 fatty acids, trans-fats, branched-chain amino acids, ethanol, and fructose. The food industry invokes personal responsibility while denying any corporate responsibility and citing scientific, policy, and social arguments. However, their responses obfuscate the scientific truth in order to obviate their culpability".
Alliin (S-allyl-L-cysteine-S-oxide) is a phytochemical compound sulfoxide,. a derivative of the amino acid cysteine, belonging to the class of sulfur compounds, found abundantly in fresh garlic and onion.
On finding a natural compound for the treatment of metabolic risk in diabetics, researchers investigated the effects of alliin (S-allyl cysteine sulfoxide) is a bioactive sulfoxide compound derived from garlic against metabolic risk factors in a diet-induced animal model.
The selected diet-induced obese C57BL/6J DIO mice were treated by drinking water with or without alliin (0.1 mg/ml) for 8 weeks.
According to the tested assays, alliin showed no significant effect on the body weight, adiposity or energy balance, however, alliin significantly reduced the levels of glucose homeostasis, increased insulin sensitivity and the lipid profile associated with metabolic risk factors.
The efficacy of alliin against the onset of hyperglycemia in obese tested mice was attributed at least in part by balancing the levels of gut microbiota.
In other words, alliin modulated of the intestinal microbiota composition by decreasing levels of Lachnospiraceae and increasing levels of Ruminococcaceae.
Based on the findings, researchers said, "alliin has nutraceutical or even medicinal potential in the prevention of diabetes and lipid metabolic disorders(in the induction of hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia)".
Furthermore, in order to reveal more information about alliin antimetabolic activity, researchers compared the therapeutic effects of alliin extracted from garlic leaves of plants grown under ex-situ and in situ conditions.
According to the results of bioanalysis on normal and alloxan-induced diabetic rats in five weeks experiment
* Alliin produced from in situ grown-plants showed a significant reduction of the serum glucose, triglycerides, total lipids, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-, and very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL)-cholesterol in diabetic rats of 54%, 15%, 14%, 20%, 24%,and 15% repetitively.
* Alliin produced from ex-situ grown-plants showed lesser effect in the reduction of 35%, 14%, 10%, 12%, 17%, and 11%, respectively
* Both were compared to those treated with distilled water.
* Additionally, alliin produced from in and ex-situ grown-plants showed no effect on high-density lipoprotein (HDL)-cholesterol.
Based on the findings, Dr. Nasim SA, the lead scientist wrote, "These findings demonstrate leaf extract obtained from plants grown under in situ conditions possess higher therapeutic efficiency in comparison with leaf extract obtained from plants grown under ex situ condition".
In other words, alliin produced from original grown-plants is more effective compared to alliin produced by ex-situ.
Taken altogether, alliin may be considered supplements for reducing metabolic risk with no side effect, responding to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.
Intake of alliin in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

* Alliin produced from ex-situ grown-plants showed lesser effect in the reduction of 35%, 14%, 10%, 12%, 17%, and 11%, respectively

Yoga Intervention in Reduced Incidence of Intrauterine Growth Retardation(IUGR)
Yoga intervention may have a profound effect in reduced risk of giving birth of intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR) infant, particularly in high-risk women, the study by the Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (sVYASA) postulated.
Intrauterine growth restriction(IUGR) is a condition characterized by smaller unborn baby due to not growing at a normal rate inside the womb.
Yoga, the practical ancient technique for harmonized external and internal body well beings, through breath control, meditation, bodily movement, and gesture..... has been best known for people in the Western world and some parts in Asia due to health benefits reported by various respectable institutes' research and supported by health advocates.
In a prospective, matched, observational study of a total of 121 women attending antenatal clinic at Gunasheela Surgical and Maternity Hospital (GSMH) in Bangalore, India, enrolled between 18-20 weeks of pregnancy with women assigned to the yoga group (including physical postures, breathing and meditation were practiced by the yoga group, one hour daily, from the date of entry into the study until delivery period) and 53 women to the control group (walked half an hour twice a day during the study), researchers found that yoga group scores a significant higher in giving birth to a baby of normal birth-weight, as well as decreasing complications of pregnancy in compared to control group.
Indeed, growth of the baby depends upon the diet of pregnant women, expecting mom’s physical health as well as providing nutrients to the baby needed.
Yoga breathing and relaxation reduced daily and pregnancy stress through calming the central nervous system by connecting the mind and body, bringing back the present moment while letting go of them or deal them in the positive way.
Furthermore, the relaxation of psychological aspect also decreased the hormone expression during pregnancy in induced psychological symptoms to the expect mother, thus ameliorating mood swings caused by stress, fatigue and attenuating negative influence to the natural response of the body to increase circulation of blood to carry oxygen and nutrients to the womb for the baby to grow naturally.
Additionally, in the review literature published on the PubMed database from January 1970 to January 2011 to evaluate the peripartum outcomes of yoga during pregnancy, including the postpartum period and lactation, five prospective observational studies (n = 575) and three randomized clinical trials (RCTs; n = 298), met the criteria and guidelines were selected in the analysis, after taking into account of other co-founders, researchers found that yoga intervention significantly lowered pain and discomfort (p < 0.05) and perceived stress (p = 0.001) and improved quality of life in physical domains.
Many pregnant women experience lower back pain as well as neck and muscle tension as the result of the body trying to cope with the growth of the fetus and expansion of the uterus. Yoga mind-body practices that cultivated general health, diminished distress, increased self-awareness, and mind relaxation also calms the nervous tension and bring back the self-consciousness of the motherhood, thus reducing pain caused psychological stress and dealing the physical pain in active and positive ways.
Additional differentiation also found that yoga breathing exercises to relax the body and help free the mind of worries and distractions, thus promoting blood to circulate in the uterus and creating a space for the baby to grow, improving self-consciousness of being motherhood in the reduction of psychological and physical discomfort.
Some researchers also suggested that maternal yoga participation not only relieves physical pain such as upper and back pain but also alleviates anxiety around labor and builds strength in the legs to prepare for the date of labor.
More profoundly, in the total of 335 women attending the antenatal clinic at Gunasheela Surgical and Maternity Hospital in Bangalore, India, enrolled between 18 and 20 weeks of pregnancy in a prospective, matched, observational study with 169 women in the yoga group and 166 women in the control group, researchers found that yoga group expressed improvement of all aspects in compared to control, including higher number of babies with normal birth weight > or = 2500 grams, reduced significant cases of preterm labor and complications of isolated intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR) (p < 0.003) and pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH) with associated IUGR (p < 0.025) in compared to control.
The findings suggested that yoga therapy is safe and may be used as an integrated approach during pregnancy to decreases IUGR either in isolation or associated with PIH, with no increased risk of complications.

Betacyanins, the Anti Liver Steatosis Phytochemical
The liver is the largest internal organ that not only filters the blood coming from the intestinal system but also protects our body against chemical and drug toxicity.
Additionally, the liver also produces cholesterol that plays an essential role to aid digestion, produce vitamin D and steroid hormone and build strong cell membranes.
Believe it or not, the liver also produces antioxidant enzymes which inhibit free radical oxidation and interact with the hormone insulin to store glucose in the form of glycogen.
Hepatic steatosis is a condition caused by the accumulation of fat in the liver. Liver steatosis can be classified into 2 types
* Alcoholic liver steatosis is caused by over-consumption of alcohol over time.
* Non-Alcohol Steatosis (NASH) is a condition of accumulation of excess fat in the liver in people who drink little or no alcohol. ... Non-Alcohol Steatosis is considered a major cause of liver scarring and cirrhosis.
Most common symptoms of liver steatosis are jaundice, abdominal swelling (ascites), enlarged blood vessels just beneath the skin's surface, enlarged breasts in men, enlarged spleen and red palms.
If you have some of the aforementioned symptoms, please check with your doctor to rule out the possibility.
Conventionally, there is no effective treatment for liver steatosis. Weight loss and weight management through a combination of a healthy diet and exercise are the most recommendations.
Some researchers suggested that the rise of liver steatosis in the US may be correlated to the promotion of a high-fat diet over the past few decades.
Dr. Arisqueta L, the lead scientist wrote, "High-fat diet (HFD) feeding or leptin-deficient mice are extensively used as models resembling features of human nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)".
And, "The concurrence of experimental factors as fat content and source or total caloric intake leads to prominent differences in the development of the hepatic steatosis and related disturbances".
Betacyanins are phytochemicals in the class of red and yellow indole-derived pigments, belonging to the group of Betalains, found abundantly in beets, chard, etc.
On finding a natural pigment for the prevention and treatment of liver steatosis, researchers examined whether betanin (from natural pigments, a member of betacyanins) anti-oxidant properties against paraquat-induced liver injury in Sprague-Dawley rats.
Paraquat injected intraperitoneally into rats to induce liver toxicity randomly assigned to 4 groups: a control group, a paraquat group, and two groups received betanin at doses of 25 and 100mg/kg/day three days before and two days after administered paraquat.
Administration of betanin inhibited the elevated serum aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase levels of the paraquat rats.
Betanin treated group also enhanced the production of antioxidant enzymes that counter the overexpression of free radicals induced oxidative stress.
Furthermore, betanin treated group also increased the expression of an enzyme associated with detoxification.
Moreover, liver mitochondrial damage caused by paraquat injection also was reduced by the administration of betanin.
In other words, all parameters associated with the onset of liver damage that causes steatosis developing were decreased substantially in the animals treated with betanin than in those who received paraquat alone.
Based on the results, researchers after taking other factors into account wrote, "Betanin had a protective effect against paraquat-induced liver damage in rats. The mechanism of the protection appears to be the inhibition of CYP 3A2 expression and protection of mitochondria".
Taken altogether, betacyanins processed abundantly bioactive ingredient betanin may be considered a remedy for the prevention and treatment of liver steatosis, pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.
Intake of betacyanins in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.

Healthy Food Turmeric Natural Treatment of Pruritus with No Side, Scientists Say
Pruritus is a skin condition associated with severe itching of the affected area, particularly in people with dry skin.
The syndrome has been found mostly in older adults due to aging-induced dehydration of the surface of the skin.
Most common symptoms of the affect areas are redness, bumps, spots or blisters, cracked skin leathery or scaly skin due to scratching.
Most common causes of pruritus are associated with the immune system overreaction of the allergens, infection and other medical conditions, leading to the skin inflammation-induced itching.
Therefore by finding out the cause of the condition, pruritus can be treated successfully.
Some researchers suggested that people with psychological problems such as depression, anxiety or obsessive-compulsive disorder may also trigger the onset of skin itching.
Dr. Hong Liang Tey, the lead scientist in the analysis of the correlation between psychosomatic factors in pruritus said, "Pruritus and psyche are intricately and reciprocally related, with psychophysiological evidence and psychopathological explanations helping us to understand their complex association".
And, "Their interaction may be conceptualized and classified into 3 groups: pruritic diseases with psychiatric sequelae, pruritic diseases aggravated by psychosocial factors, and psychiatric disorders causing pruritus".
On finding a potential ingredient for the treatment of pruritus, researchers examined the anti-allergic effect of Curcuma aromatic's constituents curcumin, demethoxycurcumin, and bisdemethoxycurcumin.
In subjects included pruritus by compound 48/80, curcuminoids inhibited the passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA) reaction induced by the IgE-antigen complex (IAC) and the scratching behavior.
Where passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA) is an animal model for Type I allergy.
Furthermore, curcumin, demethoxycurcumin, and bisdemethoxycurcumin. also inhibited proteins associated with the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and IgE-antigen complex (IAC) induced RBL-2H3 cells.
Additional analysis of the efficacy of curcuminoids, researchers found that curcumin is the most potent compound followed by demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin.
Based on the findings, researchers said, "curcuminoids, particularly curcumin, can improve the symptoms of allergic diseases, such as anaphylaxis and itching".
Moreover, scientists in the evaluation of an ethanol extract of turmeric ("Curcuma longa") and an ointment of curcumin (its active ingredient) in symptomatic relief in patients with external cancerous lesions found that the application reduced the smell in 90% of the cases and itching in almost all cases.
Both ethanol extract of turmeric and ointment of curcumin also inhibited dry lesions in 70% of the cases, and reduced lesion size and pain in 10% of patients.
Taken altogether, turmeric processed a high number of curcuminoids may be considered supplements for the treatment of pruritus, , pending to the confirmation of the larger sample size and multicenter human study.
Intake of turmeric in the form of supplement should be taken with extreme care to prevent overdose acute liver toxicity.
