Cruciferous Vegetables containing various phytochemical compounds may be the best vegetables for reduced risk and treatment of colon cancer.
According to the joint study lead by the China Medical University, sulforaphane (SFN), an isothiocyanate, existed only in cruciferous vegetables, interfered with the cancer cell cycle division in the induction of apoptosis in HCT 116 cells.
Cruciferous vegetables are the group of vegetables belonging to the family Brassicaceae, including cauliflower, cabbage, cress, bok choy, broccoli, etc.
Colon cancer is a condition of the abnormal proliferation of cells in the colon.
